Yep, our first team hookers are barely backups. We need a quality hooker desperately.
We need an experienced hooker to deputize Mozer, maybe even a veteran like James Roby who mighn't last the whole season.Yep, our first team hookers are barely backups. We need a quality hooker desperately.
The thing we might want to consider is Tyson might just be getting a better deal elsewhere. Its not like he is a nailed on starter and sometimes you have to do the right thing by players like him to set him up. Its not like he is a going to get many huge contracts.

Ain't you Nostrodamus.
i want to smack someone in the face for this one. The bloke bleeds passion - something we could do with!!
I don’t think it’s lost on anyone that that’s likely the case, and we certainly aren’t begrudging Tyson for looking at a better pay day due to his age and wanting to play first grade more beca
It’s just another instance that highlights how we have a player that seemingly can’t lose, and is on a small contract as opposed to half the team that got us a spoon being paid 4-5x the amount he is.
Also a problem that’s two-fold as it’s another example of us not paying halves what they deserve
I hope we can give him something to convince him to stay as I don’t see Reynolds being durable and Mam is still a touch too green at times. You still need a third NRL-standard half and Tyson has showed he is that at the very least. If he’s not in the halves he should be picked as a roving 5/8-lock off the bench every game
That's pretty terrible depth in the halves and hooker.Gamble is not our first pick five-eighth or halfback. Handy player and a great back up but that’s it and good on the broncos for doing what is best for Gamble…..even if it’s the knights
Our spine depth for next year is not as bad as everyone is saying
Fullback: Walsh, Niu (ew), farnworth, Cobbo
Halves: Reynolds, Mam, Olopau, Walters and I bet another young gun will come in, I’m excited who they may pick up
Hooker: Paix, Walters, Mozer
Lets not forget beginning of this season players like Mam and Martin weren’t even on the radar for this season, players can come out of no where
Yeah I think we kind of need to retain Kelly as it stands... unless Ikin has a money ball half out there somewhere that they intend to bring in.I think Tyson has a lot going for him, he's a useful squad player but i dont think he's in our best side. Its a problem a few clubs have that when they get a good depth player another side sees them as a starter and you cant really hold them back because you cant afford to spend a fortune on a backup player. I think it shows we are starting to do thing the right way when you have the likes of Hosking and Gamble being chased by other clubs as more than a last resort signing.
Maybe they will give Kelly another year if he goes. I think a lot of people forget he was probably in front of Gamble and Mam until he got injured.
Lol! The only way sir billy doesn’t get retained is if his dad gets sacked. They are freeing up cap space for his pay rise.Billy is even off contract, so if he's not retained then we lose a starting hooker and halves depth.
I don’t agree with this decision but I understand it. He’ll be an amazing bet for Newcastle as he will get them pointing in the right direction. Massively underrated player by our club it seems.
That said, if we pull a gun 9 somehow out of it, I’ll change my mind. At this point in time, I hope we can land Clifford and Simpkin, neither should be expensive and both would be gettable.
I don't think it's that we underrate Gamble. just that we have better options for the halves.
I know that many people want him on the bench, but fans would burn any of our coaches in effigy if they attempted to name a hooker and a half on the bench
Why should we?Gamble is average on his best day, not a loss at all. I'm still yet to hear someone describe what he is good at without using the words "energy" and "effort"
