Why should we?
Those things are very important and they are his best attributes, and they lift the players around him.

Playing devils advocate a bit, thats what people were saying about Turpin at one stage.

Unless there's a big move behind the scenes, this would be the first blunder under DD and Ikin. Reynolds is getting injured at some point next season and Mam is very young and should be rested at points in the season to aid his long term development. Gamble is perfect to fill in at these times.

Agreed, and I'm not saying we should pay Gamble big dollars and have him in the top 17, but he is an ideal backup.
Same for Turpin. I think he should be retained on a small deal, as injury cover.

Not first, second. You're forgetting Te Maire. Even better if either could play a spot at dummy half from the bench. They only have to be better than Billy Walters. Not the hardest assignment, but the potential for greater reward.

I think Gamble just wants a move with a better contract tbh, and you cant blame him. He isnt a Payne Haas who has been on huge money from the age of 18.

I think we can afford to let him go and maybe see if Clifford would sign a 1 year deal on a lowish salary to replace him. Another one i'd be happy to give a shot to would be Kyle Laybutt as well.

All well and good to sign players aa back up but they don't want to be that player.
Gamble and Turpin see themselves as regular first graders and want that opportunity.
That is a problem. I think they are happy to sign as a backup player, but once they get a bit of regular game time they want more of it.

Get on the blower to madden or clifford for next year or both imo.
I think Madden is looking for a starting spot with his next move... Clifford probably is as well, but you might be able to sell it better to him ie. come here and learn off Reyno for a couple years, apply it in ISC and then move up to NRL.

Laybutt is a good shout... he looked great for PNG, same with Lachlan Lam.

Lam would have been a good one, Laybutt has been playing everywhere this season in Q-Cup: centre, 5/8, hooker, lock. Good utility just don’t know about half back up

Someone we might be able to get as well is Moses Mbye. Pretty versatile player.

Hell no! The most average player in the league, god he annoys me.

I'd try and get Brad Schneider from the Raiders, he's a bona fida 7, he looked pretty good in first grade for the Raiders and you would imagine he'd love to come and learn off Reynolds

Good shout. Schneider or Trindall would be my picks. I think both of them have game managing half written all over them and both are Queenslanders. They’ll be getting plenty of games over the next two years and then can plug and play once Reynolds retires. Maybe even before if Reynolds is on a downward career swing (which hopefully he isn’t but there are worrying signs).

i think once mam starts injecting himself a bit more and taking some of the pressure for arey to do everything off him he will come good.

last play kicks for example just something i notice is it is pass it to adam every time atleast next year we will have walsh as an option that is where id like to see mam demand more of the ball, need to keep the defence guessing.

I actually think this is where Walsh will be really good for us. He has a decent boot on him and takes a lot of fifth tackle kicks for the Warriors.

Great point and I completely agree. I think he is in our top 17 currently in a lock type role off the bench purely to get his energy and competitiveness in the team somewhere but that does not keep his spot long term, or even next year. He's an amazing back up half, but he is a back up, nothing more. Us fans love it and love him, and so we should, but if he's in your starting halves for more than a year chances are you are battling mid to lower table. We might be there with Ezra but there's also the possibility his talent drags us to the top end of the table if we get things right everywhere else. If gamble was in our halves, which is what he'd stay for, I have no doubt his deficiencies would be highlighted pretty quickly and fans would turn on him. It will be painful for a few weeks with his passion playing for the knights but that will drop off
I will just be pissed if we don't have a plan. I believe it was Bennett and co eho had a great saying to only let a player go if there was a better option coming in.
I think laybutt would be great in the limited times I've seen him. Can play hooker too I believe but defends like a demon, experienced, and has one hell of a big boot on him.
I do have faith in DD and ikin that there is something in motion, but ffs it's hard to think positive after the other nights embarrassment. All thse cheap but experienced and good depth options will be hard to replicate or improve on for the same price, so maybe we have a few in place but the few extra dollars over minimum wage they provide is leading to a big signing somewhere (together with haas please!)
