Kemp's point was a) he doesn't know why Kev constantly chops and changes the dummy half's and b) why Turpin is starting when he's been told he's not at the club next year.

Both good points I reckon
His point and what McHunt claimed he was calling for sound like two very different things then.

He did call for Walters to be dropped, just like McHunt said. He wants Paix starting and Gamble 14 this week.

Paix should definitely be there but he hasn't been fit all season and Gamble should definitely be there too. I'd be happy with that, and I think I've called for it numerous times throughout the season. I was just hoping others could give an example of who should be replacing Walters in a season where our other hooker has sucked and the other one hasn't been fit.

Turpin should be the first person dropped though, so the Walters talk is just odd. Turpin isn't Walters kid and he still gets picked.

This is still a matter of opinion. I think Turpin has been the better player since the eels game. I would drop Walters.

Ugh.. Walters might make a few errors, but Turpin is a hooker who simply can not do anything a hooker should be able to do. He's far worse than Walters because our attack dies the moment he gets into dummy half.

I really think the future of the game (with its increased focus on speed for a full 80 mins and the need for a fast defensive line) is leading to an optimal strategy where there the attacking dummy half defends out of the middle. It makes no sense having the focal point of the team's attack wearing themself out tackling blokes twice his size in the centre of the field.

Think how much more effective of a dummy half Paix could be (and how much easier he could handle 80 mins) if he defended outside a second rower instead of tackling middle forwards the whole game.

There's so few 9's in the comp who can handle 80 mins at a high level... Using this sort of setup, not only could you keep your 9 fresh for attack, but it allows you to carry a 14 who is a utility, rather than a specialist dummy half. That utility could come on and provide some playmaking spark in the middle of the field too. Paix @ 9 and Gamble @ 14 would be a good example.

Hookers are usually solid defenders and attacking hookers especially are quick, so there should be no problem having a 6/7 defend alongside a 9.

It also opens up situations where a player with fantastic attacking skills could play dummy without the necessary defensive workload.... Imagine a Staggs or Niu who defends out wide, but then attacks from dummy half in the middle of the field... I could imagine big tired front rowers having nightmares having to try to tackle a pinball like Niu off the back of a fast PTB.

If there's a complete lack of good options at 9 across the entire league, then I hope someone at the Broncos is at least thinking of an innovative new approach like this.

So if suaali’i gets lured to rugby union, does that mean roosters will come after cobbo?

He's contracted mate, they can only get away with that once (and it is pathetic that this is even so) and that is with Haas.

Denan is probably the nicest guy in Rugby League. He never says a bad thing about anyone, and his comments about being confused by Kevvie's hooker and utility selection are round about his limit of saying the coach has no fucking idea.

I tend to find myself on the same page as him 9/10, and certainly do on this. I also liked the suggestion/fantasy of having Ezra come off the bench (to replace Paix) and rip apart tired forwards. Everyone will object on the basis of him not being a tacklebot, and then turn around and criticize Turpin for only being that. If you're about to reply with that, don't bother.

Never mind the defence, we need to rack up some serious points in this match, and if we're relying on Turpin/Walters to get that started, we're up shit creek from the second we get the ball.

2015 kodi nikorima was never a tackle bot either. We certainly lack impact and speed off the bench.

Does anyone know if there's any substance to the rumour that Tyson Gamble has signed a 2 year contract with the Knights?

Wonder if it would be worth having a chat come nov 1 to jackson Hastings to fill the role of hooker has good hands a decent kick and is a big enough body to defend in the middle.
