Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

Karl is probably the most talented young Bronco since K.Hunt and getting into the Sam Walker area for Mal Meninga and rep form.

Karl was 18 last week so whoever gets him he hasn't done an off-season but can play sometime this year already.

He could hurt the Broncos but they had no choice and they knew that. As much as they said no release it was always going to end like this eventually.

You can't win the PR battle making a kid sit around doing nothing and it takes up your time and energy.
There’s a ‘lose the battle to win the war’ type of point to be made though by the club with this situation, despite the cost.

Make him rot for three years to make others take notice that they aren’t pushovers, bad PR be damned.

It may be petty and spiteful, but sometimes you gotta stoop down to their level and beat them on their home turf

This whole thing stinks. I am glad we are demanding a transfer fee but for rich clubs that is no disincentive. We are in a winless situation and it is bullshit. Reading between the lines Bennett agitated for this to happen and he just gets rewarded for it. If I were the Broncos I would make it clear that any club has to pay a transfer fee but that fee is doubled if it is The

IMO, we should be seeking an equitable player swap in exchange for releasing the brat ... it's not like we need the cash

It's too hard. There is only one other Australian captain from 2022 that's Hassett and he's at Penrith he was Karl's co-captain against Fiji.

Even if you identify someone you could want, who is going to make an 18-year-old come to Brisbane?

Getting your investment back is the only thing you can do.

It's 100% Adamson.

The broncos shouldn’t be left holding the can with no other option but to release a player that has manipulated the situation to get a release. The nrl is supposed to be the governing body, they are not governing! They are not doing their job!

A real grownup sport would be suspending the agent, sanctioning any club that has provided a financial incentive to break a contract, and suspending the player for being a party to it.

But in the bush league that is the nrl, they sit on their hands and hope it goes away so they don’t have to actually do anything. They are in the middle of cba negotiations now, the perfect opportunity to create defined player transfer windows and strict rules around player movements, and you just know they still won’t come out of it having changed anything!

It’s the only thing that may draw enough attention to it to force change, the nrl sure as shit won’t do anything about it.

Just let him go to anyone except the dolphins

You can’t absolve the player himself of responsibility, he’s the one acting like a moron regardless of the influence. Player managers are a disgrace for sure but just like Haas, this kid is just as much to blame.

If you're going to be a manager of a 17-year-old now 18 you have extra responsibility Adamson is a former player and his word would carry weight for a kid and a family that doesn't have any experience.

Once again the NRL should be able to put in place systems to stop managers playing silly buggers to get their slice of the pie.

the manager of a 17-year-old should have more restrictions put on them given the influence they wield over these kids. in cases such as Olopau, it is clear as day that the manager is doing what is in his best interest, not necessarily what is in his clients best interest. Olopau's career could be very short lived, if he gets a bad reputation (thanks to the influence of his manager), unless of course he he becomes a super star almost immediately (and doesn't have a significant form drop).

in theory, the NRL having an accreditation SHOULD allow them to protect the players from their managers greed.

the player swap doesn't have to be for the other Australian captain ... hell doesn't even have to be for any schoolboys captain.

just a player that help us strengthen one of our weaker positions.

BTW, your second paragraph makes it sound like we are the pariah's of the NRL. you can be seriously telling us the only 18 year olds that would be prepared to come to us are players that we don't want ... it's up to Ikin, Scanlon and Kevvie to sell the club and their vision to the player they identify.

If I am 18 and just signed with the Dogs coming up through their grades and just completed my first NRL pre-season and suddenly, they are saying want to go to Brisbane- I am not exactly skipping no matter what anyone sells me.

You don't want to move, and you now know the Dogs don't have much love for you either.

Well in that scenario the dogs should stay the **** away from our contracted players.
