Can't see it. One of our more injury prone players defending at hooker? Has he ever played there? The difference with Hunt is that's where he plays in Origin and has proven himself to be excellent in the role. He also started his career coming off the bench at hooker. That said, in the reverse with Madden being the 9 could be worth a shout. I have no idea on his defence though.

Edit: My hope is that we're actually going for an actual hooker though.

Why do people keep calling for anyone who isn't a hooker to play hooker? It's a specialized position these days and not everyone will succeed at it like Hunt has. Staggs, Mam, Reynolds and Niu are not hookers and their abilities won't transfer to that position. We need an actual hooker.

Hunt hasn't really succeeded at it. He's played a handful of games as a bit-parter, partnered with another fulltime hooker. Not really grounds for making it as such. It's like saying Capewell has made it at centre cause he had a couple of decent games there in 2020.

Hunt IMO is the only valid option from the manufacturing a hooker POV.
Billy is already a manufactured hooker.
The fact is if the club sees our window is in the next 2 years then we have to have a 9 so we have to take someone or get involved in a bidding war and probably pay overs with genuine 9s at a premium.
