Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2025

I will try again.

Grant and Alamonti weren't off contract, they didn't get offers because they chose not to get offers.

Grant or Alamonti could have walked into their CEO's office last week and said I will be taking my skills elsewhere on November 1 for 2026. I will be trying super hard in 2025 and giving my all but in 2026 I am dust.

Grant signed his deal in 2022 with 2026 in his favour, he could have not taken that up last week and come November 1 his phone would have started ringing with offers for 2026.

Alamonti signed for 24 and then extended for 25 and now has extended for 26 and 27. Again, he could have said come November 1 I will be talking to other clubs for 2026 and not signed his new deal.

Could you imagine that conversation- as I have tried to give you context as to why he would be staying but I suspect you didn't know he was rescued isn't the 'gun' you keep saying he is.

"Hey Ivan Paul, here, look in 2026 I will be taking off like a rocket and going to greener pastures.

"I know I know, it's been great, but I am a pretty big deal and I just don't think Penrith can hold me back any longer.

"So, November 1 I will be taking massive offers from around the world I am going global."

You keep asking why they didn't get offers because they chose not to get offers.

Hosking played four games for the Broncos on a train and trial from Wynnum, so your good year is a mild stretch. Broncos didn't want him on full time, and he took another deal so not sure why that's relevant.

If Walsh doesn't get a deal done before November one, he will be able to talk to other clubs about 2026 too and just like Harry and Alamonti would have got offers if they'd waited.

Harry's would have been a lot easier because it's already there it's just him saying yes again. Walsh is a whole new deal and a big increase.

Alamonti would have been easier again, who the hell in his position wouldn't take an extension before November 1.
Who do I blame for us losing Palasia, Hoskings and Capewell, now only having Piakurua and Riki as realistic 2nd row options?

If it wasn’t purely Kev’s fault, then someone else needs the sack with him

BHQ liked Palasia for only a few months his entire tenure. and now the Titans have just flicked him because he wasn't good enough for them. He also left us for a heap more money which if we had have matched would have had people screaming for heads to roll.

BHQ was screaming for Capewell to be sacked most of his last year with us. and he hardly set the world on fire at the Warriors this year.

Those meeting minutes would be good reading.

Hoskings I can cop, he has now bounced around to three clubs for 30 games, but Capewell I never wanted to lose.

I think it was misjudged on two fronts, one they thought that Rikki and Piakura would develop more and two they were too nice.

Sometimes I think it's lovely to let someone go so they can take up a long-term deal but sometimes you need to be selfish.

Panthers let Hosking go but they can afford to be nice. Broncos I would have liked to have seen them say we still have use for Capewell.

They did the same with Jye Gray and both would have been handy in 24.

Yeah I’m with you on all of the above.

I think part of the niceness came from being too confident at the time. There was a purple patch where every player was hitting their next man up duties so they may have thought, in their hubris that we would be fine without them - wrong though

We can’t pay you your market value. But don’t worry, there is a truck arriving to deliver your tranche of BETR shares, and you have 5749 paid appearances with the Bella Tripp Foundation booked. Melbourne is obviously the main sponsor of that organisation. Just cleaning their second cap.

All of a sudden the offers from other clubs for Munster, Papz, Hughes, Utoikimanu, and Grant, all look like shit.
Tbf, didn't our guys used to own shares in race horses or something similar to that?

The thing that saves the situation from the Broncos' perspective is that none of them went on and played great football. If that happens it makes it worse. But not having them at the Broncos and playing 4-5 games also hurt the Broncos.

The Broncos had a long history of getting it right, Kev for Wally, Thorn for Gilly, Lazo for Petero and Webcke.

But you have to make sure the well is dry and the player coming in can play 25 games.

HAD being the key word there. It's been a long time since we've gotten it right, it seems.

Paul Momirovski just released and looking for a return to aus. Solid centre and would not break the bank. Hopefully Madge has a look at getting him.

He would be great depth at worst and a potential starting option, good shout. He has also played in some big games in England, I'm surprised he is coming back.

Would take him as a starting centre tbh.
