Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2025

Hard to believe that Alamoti re-signed with the Panthers, the Bulldogs discard that was deemed washed up at 20 just 12 months ago and the Panthers have resurrected him. He was playing NSW CUP in August- If I was him, I would have wrestled the contract out of their hands too. Hard call to make.

If any club was waiting for November 1 to see if Grant took up his option hoping to sign him, they are idiots.
Note the word quietly........... not a peep, no clubs interested in them I'm sure.... aaahhh 1910, you never dissapoint with your ability to misinterpret and twist a comment. There was no mention that they shouldn't re-sign with them, or that the panthers weren't in the box seat, but 16 other clubs aren't putting feelers out for 2 gun players? Hmm odd....

Alamoti, one of the best players in the gf.... quietly re-signed for the 4 times premiers.

Harry Grant, best number 9 in the game... quietly took up his option for the grand finalists....

Far more in demand are the players from the club who finished 12th!

The salary cap is a rort, driven by media and handshake deals on the side...

The game would be FAR better off without it. Prove me wrong...
Without the salary cap the Broncos, eels, dogs, wahs, rorters, souths, and possibly the storm (all popular sides outside of the rorters and storm who are propped up by wealthy super fans) would all be vying for the comp. You could maybe chuck riff in as well because of their jr nursery, but they’d be getting outspent.

With the salary cap we have the storm and riff light years ahead of every other team.

I think we'd be far better off without it.

There is no doubt there are several clubs who would be out of business without the cap.

The salary cap could work without a draft but it can't work without a draft AND with salary cap concessions / exemptions.

Well for us it would 🤣

We would be able to have twice the squad value of anyone else and if anyone wants to challenge that they will just rack up debt like crazy.

Plus add the snowball effect of Broncos dominating the league and gaining even more fan engagement making the gap bigger each year.

It would be funny to see lol.

You honestly could not have picked two worse examples of the cap not working.

12 months ago, to the day Alamoti's manager emails every club and begs them and pleads to take his client- the only reply was Penrith They resurrect his career. If there was no cap, he's probably a tradie in Sydney right now. Clubs wouldn't need to find the untapped player or rough diamond. He's a great example of the cap working. Any club could have answered that email and had him.

Grant was passed over and If Bunn had stayed at the Broncos he would be at the Broncos. Bunn had massive faith in him. They've taken the risk and made the investment in him. They had to invest and pick their replacement for Smith and do it right which Bunn did even letting B Smith go because they had Grant and Wishart. That sort of forward planning and success is the cap and recruitment working.

Resurrect a career you say?...

Te maire Martin
Zac hosking

Stood by them when they could have ditched them you say?...

Keenan paliasiaa

That's from tjat 1 year.... every club has player that owe them....

I am not saying they should leave or that they didn't owe the club. But not ONE club challenged them with an outrageous offer? Eg nearly every bronco after 1 year of success.

No farnworth-like offers for alamoti?
Harry Grant isn't getting reece walsh money from a bottom 8 club?

You are SERIOUSLY telling me that no bottom 8 club wants them? And you are SERIOUSLY saying their managers aren't saying "hey, this club is offering 1 million more over the next 3 years", and they say "na, I'm loyal bro"

I don't know what you're taking, but i want some!

We can’t pay you your market value. But don’t worry, there is a truck arriving to deliver your tranche of BETR shares, and you have 5749 paid appearances with the Bella Tripp Foundation booked. Melbourne is obviously the main sponsor of that organisation. Just cleaning their second cap.

All of a sudden the offers from other clubs for Munster, Papz, Hughes, Utoikimanu, and Grant, all look like shit.

No- no bottom right side wanted Alamonti did you read what I said? One side wanted him.

Storm would have treated Grant’s contract like a four year contract and budgeted for him to take up his option. He hasn’t signed a new deal he’s just taken his year on. He will be off contract this time 12 months.

We won’t be going after Harry that’s for sure. Unless we can trade our 5 hookers for him.

Did he sign the new contract before the grand final? I'm sure no bottom 8 club would have wanted him after that performance... you're mixing up your years like you mix up your points. You didn't debate one of my comments, just went on about something that is irrelevant so you don't sound wrong...

Again, clubs would prefer walsh over grant? Alamoti off the scrap heap and a good year like hosking and tmm yet clubs didnt want him bcos they didnt wantbhim before the good year just like them 2?

I get you have your contacts but your bias towards them often blinds you. You dribble on about irrelevant points like you have proven what I said wrong, but you haven't even commented on what I am saying. I am not saying they shouldn't be loyal or that the Panthers and storm didn't do well with them, what I am saying is that they should have (and probably did) get ridiculous offers from bottom 8 clubs, just like our players do after 1 good season. The problem with the salary cap is these clubs aren't forced to pay more for players, I am not saying the same price, they've earned that through success, but you if a club is offering me $500,000 more a season in certainly going back and AT LEAST asking the question about the possibility of a bit more off the Panthers or storm. And you are living in fairy land if you think that isn't the case.

Wasting your time, he's never been wrong.

Just ask him.

Of course there was that one time he claimed that the red ball swings off the pitch, however I think it was just an anomaly.

There’s the lure of an increased chance of playing origin which is +90k + whatever the bump to your tpas is as an origin player. I imagine appearing in gfs/ finals probably has a financial benefit as well.

I will try again.

Grant and Alamonti weren't off contract, they didn't get offers because they chose not to get offers.

Grant or Alamonti could have walked into their CEO's office last week and said I will be taking my skills elsewhere on November 1 for 2026. I will be trying super hard in 2025 and giving my all but in 2026 I am dust.

Grant signed his deal in 2022 with 2026 in his favour, he could have not taken that up last week and come November 1 his phone would have started ringing with offers for 2026.

Alamonti signed for 24 and then extended for 25 and now has extended for 26 and 27. Again, he could have said come November 1 I will be talking to other clubs for 2026 and not signed his new deal.

Could you imagine that conversation- as I have tried to give you context as to why he would be staying but I suspect you didn't know he was rescued isn't the 'gun' you keep saying he is.

"Hey Ivan Paul, here, look in 2026 I will be taking off like a rocket and going to greener pastures.

"I know I know, it's been great, but I am a pretty big deal and I just don't think Penrith can hold me back any longer.

"So, November 1 I will be taking massive offers from around the world I am going global."

You keep asking why they didn't get offers because they chose not to get offers.

Hosking played four games for the Broncos on a train and trial from Wynnum, so your good year is a mild stretch. Broncos didn't want him on full time, and he took another deal so not sure why that's relevant.

If Walsh doesn't get a deal done before November one, he will be able to talk to other clubs about 2026 too and just like Harry and Alamonti would have got offers if they'd waited.

Harry's would have been a lot easier because it's already there it's just him saying yes again. Walsh is a whole new deal and a big increase.

Alamonti would have been easier again, who the hell in his position wouldn't take an extension before November 1.
