How did he weasel out of it, they offered a release, and he took it? Dragons didn't have to offer it.

Only cause he said he didn't want to go back to pre-season training. He knew exactly what he was doing with those remarks about Gutho maybe taking over in the halves. Was a sly dig at Flanno Jr. Of course he knew Flanno Snr would be even more pissed off.

Hunt knows how to play the game and he played it perfectly. He made it virtually untenable to stay with the Dragons.

Rumours around Sydney this morning saying Hunt is certain to turn down Broncos/Dolphins. Will sign instead with an as yet unnamed Sydney club. Seems to only be interested in the most money he can get after already making millions from the Dragons.

My money is on the Bulldogs after he toured there yesterday. Maybe you can grab Sexton now in the fallout.

Rogers , Madden and the as yet decided fate for Ezra + Sexton ?
Jock is one of Madge's boys from the Tigers . I haven't given up on him yet particularly at #6 where I think he played his best for the Broncos.

Without Hunt our season hinges on Arey staying healthy for the duration of Mam's suspension. Hunt would give us that extra quality at 6 and cover for Arey. We're going to be in severe trouble if Arey cops an injury and we have to rely on a Rogers/ Madden pairing.

I daresay Gus sees a Burton/Hunt combo as a better shot at a premiership next year than Burton/Sexton.

They're no chance of beating riff/ storm with their pack imo. Delusional if they think Hunt can change that. If they actually have 1mil+ lying around I have no idea why they didn't go after AFB hard.

Wouldve thought rorters have most money available with all their outs heading into 2025 and Walker being out for a fair chunk + Sandon Smith facing charges and court appearances.

Rorters makes the most sense for him although I hope it's the Doggies so we can potentially pickup Sexton during the contract shuffle.

Either way I'm fine with the broncos moving on from him. We don't really need him and he's not going to nab us a title next year.

I think Chad was only ever picked up as a safety net if Sandon Smith failed to kick on or if Walker struggled being the main man without Keary next to him.

Chad can plug in and do the game management, but he's looking like he'll be playing most of next year at the moment (pending what happens with Sandon), which I dont think rorters were banking on. Was he only signed for 12 months as well??

It's felt like 2025 was a bridging year for rorters... like if they make the finals then cool, but they're not really thinking they're going to be super competitive.

Available recruits for 2025 was pretty limited compared to 2026, so it seems more like they're using 2025 to go after guys that suddenly become available (like Dfifi and now Bhunt), signings for 2026 (and looking for break contracts to join early) and then seeing which young guys kick on.

They've got cash to front end Bhunt for 2025, whilst Sam continues to develop... if the partnership looks good in 2025 then they carry it into 2026 at a reduced contract (or Bhunt looks to break early again), but by then they'll likely have been more active in the recruitment world and making a play for a premiership.

Bhunt retires end of 2026, might have a premiership, and would also have Uncle nick giving him stock market and real estate advice post footy career.
