No. Roosters even to my sources dont have the cash to dump into a half. (If they do shuffle their cap spending its madness and will hurt them long term).

The NRL system for cap is stupid and leveraged off the low placed clubs complaining about access to players. The lower place teams have a mindset of expectating that because XYZ player signs on to play with supernova team - therefore it determines his value. There is so much ambiguity at NRL HQ on how to deal with this salary cap auditor wise it has literally become a poker machine joke of what comes back.

There cap isn't balanced in a way that you could throw the money into a half anyway. They just lost JWH, May, Tupouniua, Keary, Manu and Suaalii as well as Walker and Smith doing ACL's. Next year is a write off for them so who in gods name is spending that sort of money on a halfback you need for half a season when you have already signed a reasonable halfback for shit all that can cover 10-20 rounds till Walker is back. They just re-signed Walker to a massive deal, they re-signed sandon smith and they brought in Townsend. I don't see how they can reasonably invest in Hunt like that for 10-20 rounds where they are likely to be shithouse anyway.

The issue with the cap is that it’s meant to help the shit teams, but then the player market value is continually overinflated due to the shit clubs overspending on players.

Mozer got exploited twice for tries against the Dolphins and Paix is a catcher tackler who needs assistance to stop a runner . Billy can and does cut guys down one on one .
His passes may not be as slick as Mazer for sure ,,, but he doesn`t leak tries either .

He has more in his game than he shows .
I remember a sweet pass around the tackler`s back for a try assist in his 1st few games . He played more conservatively after .
Probably has the best balance between attack [ Mozer / Paix ] and Defence [Billy] but it would be nice see a little more creativity in attack .

He easily has the best, most consistent service from dummy half.

I’m sure 1910 will tell me I’m wrong and he played prop all through cup but he is the only one (out of Billy, Paix, and he) that looks like he’s always been a hooker - not a half who has learned to be a hooker

Dummy half was always his preferred position, but he did spend a fair amount of time at lock in both NYC and Colts.

At this stage Billy has to be the front-runner for 14 if not 9 based on having the most experience, being the incumbent, his work ethic, history with the coach, utility value, seniority, level head, etc. Accusations of nest feathering no longer come into it. He will have to win his place during the off season.

Madge has plenty of time to establish a pecking order amongst his dummy halves and bench utilities. Billy will be prominent in that mix, regardless of how ordinary the competition. Ultimately, Smoothy, Paix and Walters should be depth at best, and two should be off the roster.

I expect to see Mozer at 9, and Billy at 14, but I'm hoping Madge will go a fresh direction and play someone like Madden or eventually Black off the bench.

At least if Billy is selected, it won't be because his dad is pulling strings.

It's getting embarassing at this point, Kev's gone, he's not in the picture anymore. If Billy is selected, it's on merit. You'll need to come to terms with that.
