I think he's copped a bit of unwarranted flack from the St George faithful tbh. They complain about him kicking stones about this and that and how he's just robbed them of money every year, but he's easily been their number one player for the last few years and without him I don't think they even get a sniff. Reading between the lines, it also seems like he was 'promised' some help when it comes to players etc and that just hasn't happened. Granted, that's happening next season but I think it had been promised for a while and the damage had been done.

I love the guy but I don't want the headlines and pressure that would come with him signing here.

6 tries, 30 try assists. I agree with your sentiment in part for sure but at the end of the day he is at a club thats paid him a million dollars a year for 7 seasons and he has in my opinion been worth that performance wise without a doubt. If I'm 34 and at a club that hasn't put anyone around me throughout my prime and I'm performing to that 1 million dollar mark I'm gonna be pretty shitty as well. You have to remember they have had barbecue gate, shit contracts, shit attitudes, shit recruitment for a very long time now. 1 finals series. A good halfback is going to bridge a gap and he has done just that, its been a bottom tier roster overachieving for a long time. Some might not look at missing the finals every year since 2018 as that but thats the reality, its a poorly run club, where very few perform year in year out. Except Ben has, so when you aspire a premiership, you are 34 and every promise in the world has been made to get better and you just never do, its fair enough to say hey I'm not happy. I think the fact he re-signed when he clearly wasn't happy is very much on him but at the end of the day you can't blame the guy for looking at that organisation and going this club isn't gonna get me what I want beyond money and thats success. I can't blame him for feeling the way he does, I think its ridiculous the dragons wouldn't just let him go when he is asking for a release every 2nd week, but at the same time I don't think thats the way to conduct yourself when under a contract either. The dragons only have themselves to blame though, down with the Tigers as the most poorly run club over the last decade for sure. Paul Vaughan, Jack De Belin, Talatau Amone, Matt Dufty, Zac Lomax, Andrew McCullough, Aaron Woods, Moses Mbye, Corey Norman, Mikaele Ravalawa, Josh McGuire, Jack Bird and Blake Lawrie are the core of blokes that he has played substantial footy with and have been the high paid players alongside him. McInnes, Frizell, Widdop, Robson are core examples of shocking non-retentions and losses in that period.

I just don't think he poses the same kind of negatives to our club as he does the Dragons. As a matter of fact I don't think he poses any of those negatives to any other club except the Dragons. He isn't an unreasonable person, his frustrations are most definitely warranted from that point of view let alone everything we don't know beyond that as well.

Very good at rep level . Chokes too often at clubland . Would cause too much disruption in the squad to bring him back .
