It is what made Cyril so good. He didn't just go look for the big and fast kid who just ran over smaller players. He got an idea about character and work ethic by speaking to parents, teachers etc.I think it's the opposite that's what worries me. Piakura and Howarth were the best two backrowers in their cohort in 2019. If Penrith was chasing them that would make sense in 2019.
Armstrong isn't Piakura or Howarth, he didn't make any Queensland side until U19 last year not a single rep side. There is something about him that I like- he's just a hard working solid kid.
He's playing Meninga Colts in 23, played one Cup game and one game for Qld and he's 19 nearly 20 in a couple of weeks. Yet the premiers want him.
So my question is why do the four-time premiers see and want? Jim Jones is very very good at what he does- This is the same guy that went to Gloria Jeans every week to watch a 17-year-old five-eighth Dylan Edwards to see if he wanted him. He doesn't miss a trick.
Well explain him volunteering to sit out of games after origins every time he is given the opportunity. Or openly going to the coaches and saying don't pick me this week I'm tired. He has a long history of taking the easy way out when the times are tough
I can remember one origin when he got KTFO and had time off to recover ?
Should he have just hardened up and ignored the doctors ?
He has failed to back up multiple times over his career already from origin despite playing on the wing. How many wingers often fail to back up from origin for their clubs. The answer is basically zero unless carrying an injury which he never has been at the time. I'm glad you can remember when he got knocked out in origin but perplexed you cant remember him not backing up any other time. Case in point was actually last year after game 3 when we were struggling and he said nah cant back up Kev pick someone else. Everyone else backed up because it was basically a must win game for the club including Carrigan and Haas who played big minutes in the origin game.I can remember one origin when he got KTFO and had time off to recover ?
Should he have just hardened up and ignored the doctors ?
Can’t wait for the former dragons star Ben hunt steers broncos to victory headlines. It still hasn’t sunk in the Ben Hunt is in our team. Wtf lol
I fear a lot of people are just relying on Hunt to basically correct everything that was wrong with our team last year when in reality his signing doesn't address the any of the team issues that we were plagued with last year. Can’t wait for the former dragons star Ben hunt steers broncos to victory headlines.
More excited about the hunt signing because it gives a bit of time for black to develope, the Maguire signing should be addressing the problems last year imo as far as player performance goesI fear a lot of people are just relying on Hunt to basically correct everything that was wrong with our team last year when in reality his signing doesn't address the any of the team issues that we were plagued with last year.
I mean he does address two major aspects, our team’s average experience and football IQ just went back up. We’re now back at Capewell era levels.I fear a lot of people are just relying on Hunt to basically correct everything that was wrong with our team last year when in reality his signing doesn't address the any of the team issues that we were plagued with last year.
That also is a very valid pointJust teach Piakura who and when to tackle .
50 % less work involved .
I'm seeing reports of $2m extension.Staggs looks set ’to resign - 3-4 years

I'm seeing reports of $2m extension.
If that's over 3 years then it's about $660k per year... that would be a pretty decent deal and probably not much of a pay rise on what he's currently on... if at all... which would be about right.
I think his previous contract was an inflated value on potential, so this allows a bit of a reset on his contract, which is good work from the R&R team if so... it is a tricky situation to manage for a guy that is in his mid-20's.
It should be similar for Cobbo given his last contract was assuming he would be the future long term fullback.
Always liked Staggs. Great team playerThe CM said it would be $2 million for at least three years, and possibly four. which is actually a pay cut. as he is reportedly on $700k - $750k a year depending which report you're reading. Staggs on $660k for 3 years is a good deal for us
