I don't think it has anything remotely to do with attracting American players, its purely about gambling and attracting gambling dollars from the USA.

If I'm honest I'm quite concerned with the amount that gambling has become front and centre in Rugby League, you can't watch a game now without the advertising being rammed down your throat and with Vlandys in control it will only get worse.

I don't see that going away in a hurry. Something I notice abroad: if someone is into a sport, they usually have a flutter on it. By way of contrast, everyone I know in the UK bets on whatever sport they follow. No one I know in Australia does. This is just people I know.

It's a bit like horse racing here. No one follows horse racing because they enjoy watching horses running. They have a stake in the outcome.
