Broncos v Bulldogs Build-up thread

whats the chances that we can just pass to k all night and the bulldogs players wont wanna go near him? 4309213u10f923-0 to us. thats right, we score so many points that letters come into the equation.

I was just watching fox sports News and they were talking to the Bulldogs coach about the swine flu thing...he said that injury and illness are a normal part of the footy season and clubs just have to deal with it... he then went on to compare the Broncos situation to the fact the Ben Hannant hasn't been able to train for two weeks.

so basically he was saying that them having a prop unable to train is the same thing as an entire squad being unable to train.

So the players wanted to play but Bruno was cared of losing and did not want them to play. Lets go boys show the Doggies who is boss....

Our plays have been replaced by a single phrase "I'm gonna sneeze on you!!". We'll win by 50.

Bruno seems to be getting a lot of the blame for this fiasco. He looked totally p****d off last night. As he said they followed the law to the latter and did as they were told but in the future they will do what they normally do and send anyone who is sick home and let the rest continue on. Can't stand Bruno and wish he would bugger off from our club but on this one I am for one totally behind him.
The game had to go on as Ch9 had their vans all set up at Suncorp. Who runs our game? No prizes for guessing that one that's for sure.
The players didn't overrule Bruno and Co. They were asked what they wanted to do and the club accepted their decision. Well done boys for going on with it and hope you spit and cough as much as you possibly can in the scrums.
School etc are still closing down as of this morning so what the hell is going on at Qld Health? Couldn't take the heat of being blamed for a league game to be called off so passed it onto the NRL to make a decision at the last minute.

Funny to hear Gallop last night say if the guys in the Titans game had been put in isolation that there would have been a heavy decision made. hmmm.....Double standards much seeing as our boys are still legally not out of isolation. One even expected to play that has the virus.

Anyways it is game on and here's hoping the boys dig deep and pull this one off and we can laugh in the Bronco knockers faces.

That's exactly it.

One minute QLD Health is telling them all to stay home, no training, and stuck until after kick-off. Then, as if Nine rang them and told them about the shit storm they are about to be dragged through, they up and changed the story.

I feel for Bruno for the halfwits around the place blaming him for doing everything he was told to do.

Agree with Nashy and tryhard. Bruno's been hung out to dry by typical QLD Government incompetence. The Broncos were told to quarantine the players for 72 hours on Tuesday night, which took them to 10pm Friday night. Then QLD Health say yesterday "oh, that's just a guideline, give or take 5-10 hours". WTF?

Given what the Broncos were told, Bruno and the staff acted on the assumption the game couldn't go ahead on Friday and had already said to the NRL that they would want the game rescheduled, preferably to Sunday. If the NRL had come to the party on that on Tuesday when all this happened, it probably would've been able to happen. The NRL said "let's wait and see".

Then QLD Health backflip.

I can understand Bruno and the coaching staff saying they would be derelict in their duty of care to the players to make them play Friday night without any training and preparation. I'm also happy with Bruno's decision to let the players decide, thus avoiding a very nasty confrontation between the Broncos, Bulldogs, NRL and Channel 9.

Look I dislike Bruno as much as anybody, but he handled this situation as well as anyone could have. QLD Health on the other hand are a deadset joke.

[eusa_clap.gi Well said, this is exactly what went down.

Now the players have manned up and said, let's overcome this adversity and play. And they're playing, let's just hope they don't get sick or injured because of the lack of training over the last couple of weeks. It will be an interesting game. As usual I'm expecting a big one from Locky, particularly with Cyril's funeral today and the emotion behind that.

What a douche, the smug look on that guy's face made me want to puke. He looked like the game was already theirs in the bag, and as though this is the best thing that could happen to them. [icon_thumbs_do

I hope he finds this a case of counting his chickens before they're hatched.

FYI, betting is still suspended on the game even though it is going ahead eusa_think

I'm a Bruno hater as well, i can accept he got mucked around by QLD health (Anna Bligh FTL), but geeze i think it was silly publicly stating we weren't going to play. Honestly was that ever going to happen?

You would have thunk he'd wait until he has his meeting with Gallop before publicly stating something as drastic as that. Bit of respect for the club and the game thanks Bruno.

How is this Anna Blighs fault.

Deadset, there are some morons when it comes to blame games.

The Premier is ultimately accountable for her departments, Nashy. QLD Health has been an incompetent waste of space for the best part of 20 years now and Beattie and now Bligh have only made it worse.

Well played Bruno. He handled this one well.

We need to get out on the field. The players have been together for months and should no what's needed to beat Canterbury. IMO there really are no excuses if we don't turn up.

I don't think there's any doubt the players will turn up switched on tonight. It's just a question of whether they can put it all together.

prices back up at centrebet

Broncos 2.20 (+2.5)
Bulldogs 1.67 (-2.5)

i would have expected the Broncos odds to be bigger that that

That would be a big risk for bookmakers. They set their lines / prices in the hope of getting balanced "action". The Broncos at "plus" money (ie above $2) at home is a scarey prospect for books. The betting public loves to back teams like the Broncos and they leave themselves open to a bloodbath if they send them out as too big underdogs.
