Broncos v Bulldogs Build-up thread

Who knows... my guess is the game will still go ahead Friday night. QLD health don't have the power to make Brisbane not play.

The game won't be postponed, Channel 9 won't want it changed & Gallop will bow to channel 9.

Yeah QLD Health have no say on whether it goes ahead, it'll go ahead in that case. Darn shame. Unless NRL & 9 can negotiate something.

I'm starting to side with Rocky, if we play we'll be so far underdog it will be ridiculous and we'll come out and flog them. Muhwhahahaha.

Heard what the Comets/Redcliffe thing or that Hunt had tested positive?

The longer the delay I reckon the more likely the game will be delayed as they are working on the contingency plan to release all the details at once so there is no doubts........what do others think re this proposition

So why don't the Broncos just train today and tomorrow? FFS, if we're going to be forced into playing on Friday night then we might as well start training today.

I don't think it will be delayed.

Gallop will say Too bad, So sad, now play.

QLD Health are now saying they have no power to stop anything.

QUEENSLAND Health says it has no power to ban Broncos players from the NRL clash with the Bulldogs tomorrow night.

Chief health officer Jeannette Young has released a statement saying a decision on whether the game at Suncorp Stadium should be played ``rested entirely with league officials''.

couriermail.com.au reported today that the Broncos are sweating on the result of a flu test on Karmichael Hunt to find out the fate of Friday night's clash with the Bulldogs.

But Dr Young said the match ``posed no greater risk than any other mass gathering of people''.

Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen said the NRL appeared to be ``pushing forward as if the game is going to happen''.

``That is their decision. We are just taking advice from Queensland Health and looking after the welfare of the players,'' Cullen told ABC Radio.

I think he was starting to feel the effects of it on Friday. In any case I've had flu twice in the last two years and both occasions I was bed ridden for 5 days, and still unwell for 3 or 4 after.
soft! I had the flu a couple of months ago, only hit me for 3 days. of course it still hasn't gone away. It's an annoying but mild flu this year.
Not what my dr reckons - he said the type of flu I've had for nearly 2 weeks now is worse than anything swine flu can dish out and that it's pretty bad this time around. I don't feel anywhere near as bad as I did all last week and up until a couple of days ago, but still having trouble breathing and going through tissues like they're going out of style. Driving me nuts.

If QLD Health can't stop the players playing, why was Boyd & Harrison stopped from playing.

Let Hunt play & infect everyone.

But Emma can you play tomorrow night is the real issue [icon_wink

Hope you get well soon to by the way

Christ some people are slow. All QLD health are doing is saying we can't STOP them playing. But they can RECOMMEND they don't play.

Bruno would then be within his rights to say the players aren't playing, and put some rag tag team of QLD Cup misfits on the field.

QLD Health are trying to divert blame from themselves by saying "hey, we just gave advice, it's your fault you took it/didn't take it".

That sounds bad mate! there are quite obviously several strains of flu flying around this year, the same as every other year. And yet because the media has latched on to this one and it has a scare-mongering name it's turned into some huge appocolyptic event. [icon_non Crazy! I hope you get better soon! I've had a mild dose of flu (swine flu perhaps?lol), compounded by head cold after head cold, but obviously nothing to whinge about!

This whole thing is completely ridiculous and Qld Health needs to stand up and say they have stuffed up :!:

Hate to agree with Nashy and defend QLD Health, but he's right, it's only been the Broncos saying they "have to" quarantine players for 72 hours if Hunt is confirmed with swine flu. Nobody from Qld Health has said that's their directive at all.
