Broncos v Manly Post Match Venting

You guys should start the NSWRL up again, so Melbourne wouldn't be in your comp to beat you next week.

I'd rather lose in a prelim final, than get beaten in a GF. At least Tony Williams and Steve Matai won't have to endure that feeling.

Don't be so sure either will miss the GF.

I forget the amount of times Wallace looked to take the line but had no one running with him and he just got swamped.

Poor Copley, I doubt he slept last night his 2 errors were the difference in the scoreline. Gee what could have been if it became 6-6 instead of 10-0

Got this cockhead on my facebook who is a Manly fan sprouting #### out of his mouth.

[h=6]MANLY, embarrassing by the broncos really when u hav a legend like lockyer on the side lines deserves a better send off than that hahahaha[/h]

Not the full quid obviously.

Was it me or did the commentators try to make it almost origin like by referring to the broncos as queenslanders alot?

The Gillett to 6 move destroyed our structure massively. I don't really think we were on from the start. The leadership debate IMO I just don't get. Thaiday and Parker both topped the tackle count and busted a nut for the team. Hodges tried to do as much as he can in the typical Hodgo way.. McGuire wasn't as good as he has been that is for sure. Macca needed to kick more out of dummy half IMO.

No coach is perfect. Griffin has had an amazing debut season, but he choked a bit under pressure. Hopefully he learns from all of his mistakes.

No. Just no.

Honestly what makes you think we would've done any better with Norman or Hunt???

A blunder was Tonie Carroll in the halves. We were never ever in that game. In this game we were in sniffing distance for most of it.

TBH any other year I think we would have got belted by 30. You have to remember we were Lockyer less. We haven't ever put in such a showing without him. It's a testament to Griffin the players hung in there and fought back after such a horrible start. He has instilled an amazing constitution within this team.

Agreed m1c.

Jeba - At least with Hunt you know he's going to organise his troops better, has the appropriate passing and kicking game and if anything else will allow Gillett to play his natural game. I'm not saying 100% the result would have been different but I believe he would have done a better job as a half than Gillett.

Couldn't say the same about Norman just yet. Too big a liability in defence. Hopefully he and Hunt have huge offseason. Our chances rest with them.

I really don't think Copley was that bad. He accidentally cost us a try with a falcon and that pass he dropped was impossible to take so blame Reed for that. He has been breaking the line a bit on kick returns and that catch he took to score was a screamer, also made a good run late in the game that if supported properly would have resulted in a try.

I was wondering who would step up as onfield leader, answer, nobody.

Wallace is a ranga version of Shane Perry, he sees a game really well but he just isn't fast enough with hands or feet to take advantage and his kicking game is not good enough often enough.
Hodges is a waste of salary cap and next year will be his last IMO, Hannant is not the player he was, the game takes a physical toll on players his size, his best place is off the bench.

Agree on this. Copley cant be blamed for the missed try. He was doing what any good winger should and that's getting under the bomb. It was just unlucky. Also, reeds pass was a rocket, and aimed at his shoulder, was very tough to take.

I cant agree more about hodges and hannant. Why we signed hodges for another 3 years baffles me considering he was injured at the time, and had been on and off all year, and most of his career. He was useless last night, he seems to take notes from hayne, and think all he has to do is walk up to the defence and they will let him through. Pathetic. Hannant is a waste of the money we are paying him. He runs too upright and gets dominated, and his workload is atrocious, especially when u compare it to mcguire who is far more effective with the ball, and can play the entire 80 if need be. Next year Civo and Mcguire should be our props, with hannant, anderson and hala to fight for the 2 bench spots. Hala showed more in his 15 minutes last night than hannant has in weeks.

But then you screw around with the hooker rotation that's been working pretty well!!!! Macca hasn't played 80 minutes in over 2 years

Oh well what's done is done, personally I don't think it would've made a difference, because as you said in your first post in this thread Rock, we just needed Lockyer.

I don't think we needed Lockyer, I always thought we could win the game without him. I think the Gillett to play in the 6 decision was fine but the second we were 16-0 down we needed to have Hunt in the 6 and Macca playing more minutes so we had more options in attack.

It would have made a difference to how we played but like I said when I learnt of the Gillett selection, we just have to suck it up.

Got to say, I hope no fans hold any grudges after tonight's game against our own players. Saw some pretty disgusting posts in the live update thread which were probably intended to be jokes but I just hate how we tear into our own side. Most League fans would die to have our depth and talent.

That was ridiculous.

Fans need a context, the fact Beale played as well as he did despite being a depth player speaks volumes. Not many clubs can handle the loss of their fullback, especially in a finals game.

Beale's had a good season, to think he's gone from scape-goat to being an international player is astounding.
