Broncos Vs. Cowboys - Post Match Discussion

Clinton showed a bit of mongrel which was nice to see, very impressed with Glenn aswell. Barely sighted Te'o which was disappointing and Setu did alright when he got a chance. Hunt was excellent at times tonight chiming in at the right moment. Thaiday was the best player on the park by an absolute mile he was in everything.

Clinton was Man of the Match for mine, made good ground in just about every hitup, made no errors, tackled well, it was the exact performance we needed from our front rower in round 1. Best game from him in Broncos colours, great stuff.

Well done to Thaiday for playing the full 80 but he made a few simple errors there too. A couple of them really could've cost us.

Wallace I thought was fantastic, apart from the kick out on the full.

And what about those two new wingers!!!! Yow Yeh's try stood out for me, most wingers (especially those on debut) would've stopped with that little room and offloaded it back inside, what confidence to go for the try! Those two are keepers!

All in all, solid start and nothing less than was to be expected IMO. Bring on the Storm!!

I just finished watching the game after work. Whilst there were quite a few mistakes from both teams and a lop-sided penalty count our way I thought it was a very entertaining game first up with solid performances from almost everyone on the field.

Thaiday was easily the best, picked up where he left off last year. Great to see!

Holy shit that was bad. Better sharpen up or its gunna be an ugly year. Thaiday got MoM even though he was pretty sloppy...makes no sense.

great game, we seemed to have a lot of nervous energy so i'm sure we'll settle down over the next few weeks.

Our goal line defence was woeful - just about every time the Cowboys were on our line they scored.

Hunt is going to be the key for us. With the second man play he is the decision maker and tonight proved again, put him in that position and he makes the right decision every time. 3/3

Winterstein showed some good pace - he could be one to watch, and Yow Yeh seemed to have some strong runs.

Also, how friggin huge is Izzy - never seen him in person till last night 8 rows back - he's a giant

Folau FTS lol what a joke (a $45 joke).

And also our forwards passed the test B+ for mine against a one of the better (probably the biggest nowadays) NRL packs

The best run of the night came from the steaker who ran 110mters before he was tackled on the Cows try line in front of the away supporters bay.

That was an orsm line break!!! I can't believe he didn't get caught til he reached the other corner!

Thurston was so pissed about that. They had us on the ropes on the 4th tackle when he ran through NQ's backline.

What an idiot.

I don't think they had us on the ropes at all.

The streaker affored them the time to set themselves properly for a field goal attempt, albeit one from 50m out.

Good win in the first round from the Broncos.. IMO the more wins we get in the first 6 rounds the better our chances of making the finals.. We have a tough early draw.. If Parker had his kicking shoes on our Michaels wasn't so rusty we would have won a lot easier.. I am wrapped for our young wingers who both performed well as it stands Winterstein keeps his spot when Hodges comes back but Yow Yeh still has a few weeks to win some points back..

what an awesome game ....hats off to the new look broncs.....the forwards played exceptionally ..well done icon_thumbs_u

Sure, the win wasn't pretty for a lot of it. But IMO that's one of the best parts of it - a very new team, gelling together okay, but TOUGHING IT OUT against good opposition. They had to defend, they were pushed at times and they came through.

No huge standouts IMO, but a really solid job across the part. Really liked Te'o, Yow Yeh, Winterstein and Setu on debut in particular... Locky and Wallace had some good touches, K looked in decent form, Sammy had some great runs and Dave Taylor hinted at some more of his potential.

Very good night out, and great to see us with two competition points on the board. Let's hope the boys keep it up - if we can get 2 or 3 (or 4?) wins from our first four games, we're in good shape IMO.

The streaker was a d-head, there's a time and a place, they did have us on the ropes going backwards...

Anyway I agree Ning about Gorrell, he looked ordinary...in time McCullough will replace him, the only thing I liked about Gorrell is that he did get us straightening up and going forward again. But meh, his runs reminded me of Shane Perry.

How good is Hunt, and who are the guys that reckon he's not worth the money to keep? Pfft! Give him what he wants and keep him here.

Kenny was sensational in his first 20, what was the go with him disappearing???

Oh and how good are those wingers, I was lolzing remembering Reece Robinson's debut last year...these guys look like they have 50years more exp...and we still have Beale as well. ORSMNESS! (still miss Kemp tho aye)

would have liked to see Teo get more involved - he should be the one running wide off Locky ("as the new Carroll"), not Parker...sure this will come as the combinations mature...

Just give Gorrell time. Remember when Ennis played for us he wasn't that good either but after a while he turned into a star. Who knows, that may happen to Gorrell as well.

Anyway onto other things. A good way to start the season...sorta. I thought Yow Yeh and Falou in particular were good.

I am willing to give Gorrell plenty of time, i certainly haven't written off yet.

To me he seemed to lack vigour and agility. A massive part of Ennis' game last season were his runs out of dummy half which really relieved pressure from our forwards and set us on the front foot. Gorrell doesn't look like that kind of player IMO, he is more of an organiser which is fine.

Hopefully he'll improve over the next few weeks when he gets back into the groove of the NRL.

I was suprised Thaiday got MotM, I would have said Hunt or Clinton. Thaiday got through a lot of work, but I'd prefer him to do less work for more explosiveness. Te'o got bugger all opportunity to do anything I thought. DT played well. Kenny only got 15 minutes and he was playing well, must be injured?

Only round 1 however.

Thaiday got MOM got to be kidding he was consistent and made plenty of hit ups but TBH I didn't even notice him. Hunt should have got it no doubt IMO.
