Broncos Vs Cowboys - Team list, pre & post game discussion

Re: Broncos team Vs Cowboys

i gotta admit i watched most of the game through my hands or looking down in disgust...

Re: Broncos team Vs Cowboys

Yeah, and you're not alone, I actually thought Sims was better yesterday from viewing, simply because I didn't notice ridiculous attempts at huge tackles that left him concussed (hello Sailor!). But he was pathetic.

Stats proved what I thought of Hannant though. Solid without being spectacular.

When is Wapau gonna get a run? Has he been forgotten about??

He injured his foot early in the year, and has only been back for 5 weeks or so. The big fella has struggled for fitness since

Re: Broncos team Vs Cowboys

PJ Marsh should definitely be back in the team somewhere. He killed it for the Comets on the weekend.

Re: Broncos team Vs Cowboys

Look, we have the best forward coach in the game - flexible, adaptable, motivational expert, blah blah blah ....

Clearly, the players don't give a stuff.

I'm thinking we could shove Sims or Clinton in reserve grade for them to find form, and start Marsh on the bench ahead of one of those. Lockyer starts the game.

Then, Lockyer can come off the field, pushing Wallace to 5/8th (he likes to play 2nd receiver for us anyway at times), Ennis to halfback and Marsh at hooker.

That way we won't have to see Stagg in the halves again. icon_thumbs_u

Re: Broncos team Vs Cowboys

This is the side I would pick

1 - Hunt
2 - Kemp
3 - Moon/Hodges if back
4 - Boyd
5 - Manihera
6 - Lockyer
7 - Wallace
8 - Thaiday
9 - Ennis
10 - Clinton
11 - Parker
12 - Stagg
13 - Eastwood

14 - Taylor
15 - Kenny
16 - Marsh
15 - Sims

Yes I would drop Hannant, since about round 10, and when he decided to leave he has done squat. Doesn't seem very interested in being here anymore.

Clinton only drops the ball when under pressure, running a couple wide ect. Running off the hooker he make great inroads into the defensive line, he did it a few times against the big dogs packs, ran one out effectively. This is where we need him to be, leave the wide running to the back rowers and Thaiday. If he gets back to the basics of rucking it up and stops trying too hard he'll really find his feet.

Stagg needs to be in the back row, and left there for 80 minutes, whats the point of having 80 minute back rowers in Stagg and Parker and not using them for 80 minutes?

I'd have Sims on notice that unless he improves and shows some form he'll be gone when Carroll returns.

Of course Bennett wont change much from last week, if anything, chances are he'll bring back in someone who has failed for another shot at failing.

Re: Broncos team Vs Cowboys

Throwing Clinton and Sims in reserve grade won't do anything, don't expect them to improve much in the future either, they are playing to their calibre, sure Clinton could clean up a bit by hanging onto some balls, but thats it, other then that, they'll always be average.

This is what happens when blokes come in to replace Webcke and Petero.

Re: Broncos team Vs Cowboys

OK, after some reviewing I've decided to go for:

1. Hunt
2. Kemp
3. Moon
4. Boyd
5. Manihera
6. Lockyer
7. Wallace
8. Clinton
9. Marsh
10. Thaiday
11. Sims
12. Stagg
13. Carroll
-------------------
14. Parker
15. Eastwood
16. Hannant
17. Ennis

I think a change-up in the forwards would work OK and use Parker and Hannant as they were used in 2006. I have always maintained that while Parker is a good 80 minute player, he is very effective off the bench and this allows the bigger guys to get the forward momentum going early in the match. Hannant is very good with fresh legs against tired defence and I think Sims and Clinton are better suited being there at the start than trying to make an impact. As disappointing as they have been I think they are definately two of our more talented forwards and persistence with them will pay off at the end of the day.

Now - Rocky and Alec before you shoot me down, I am not putting Ennis on the bench because I am not a fan of his. This is a tactical change. In the first 20 minutes I would use a game plan to really let the forwards lead the way and create a platform for Locky and Wallace. Get the go-forward going and tire the opposition forwards out. Marsh on there for the first 20 minutes or so to just give normal dummy half service and rattle a few bones in defence. Then Ennis comes on against a tired forward pack. Now this is when he would work best because he is always looking to catch offside markers and defenders not back 10m and would find it much easier to do so if he is fresh.

Oh and Taylor just hasn't done enough for mine. He's got plenty of time on his side though.

Ennis is the form hooker of the comp at the moment - you have to leave him on the field all game - he has been absolutley killing it for us.

No need for major changes and you all know with Bennett there won't be. I would like to see the Broncs just keep it simple. They could have canned the Dogs with simple shite rather than trying to do the second man shift on every second play - that was almost laughable how predictable that was on Sunday, except for the fact it is scary to think we offer nothing else in attack.

Honestly, I think we should keep the team exactly the same. The only change I'd make would be Moon in for Emmett, but then Hodges will be back next week!

Pretty much everyone is fit, healthy and on deck. We'll show a vast improvement to last week, but the desperate Cows will play their best match in three seasons and will beat us by 2 points. This will be the last match we lose this season!

I sense the same thing Mick.. I think not having Hodges has hurt as a fair bit TBH, he is so strong and can really blow a game open with a good run.

I would be very suprised if we played a game like that again this year. I agree, there is nothing wrong with the side - it shouldn't need to be changed much. We should have killed the Dogs with that team we had - same goes for the Cowboys this Friday. I hope it was the kick in the arse they needed.

WB is a creature of habit, we should all know that after 21 years........team will be the same with probably Stagg in centres again and Moon added to the bench, unless Marsh went well for CQ. Rest of team the same as Dogs game.

You'd have to think Marsh went well. The Comets beat Souths Logan and Marsh scored a try...I'd say he'll come onto the bench for Emmett.

Hodges, due back from his six-week suspension against the Sharks next week, is the player Brisbane is missing most.

''You could see it when we put the ball in the centres we're struggling,'' Broncos coach Wayne Bennett said.

''He's going to be vital to us. He's a genuine strike player and we need some strike out there. We're a bit short in that area.''

Thing is, if he put Joel Moon or even Eastwood out there we wouldn't be AS short in attacking power there. But Stagg...

Yeah i know its silly, these coaches really give you the shits. Even boyd struggled to draw and pass against the dogs.
