Broncos vs Sea Eagles Post Game Discussion

you cant ground the ball if the ball is not on the ground. what stupid wording for a rule. obviously the ball has to touch the ground for it to be grounded.

You don't NEED control of the ball to score a try by grounding a loose ball.

The definition of control in rugby league is holding the ball in your hands/arms and placing it. If that were a requirement you could NEVER dive on a loose ball in goal, even with your hands.

I keep saying it, I agree it's stupid that you can score a try without actually having possession of the ball, but that's the way the rule is and has been as long as I can remember.

I HATE MANLY AND THERE STUPID SURPORTERS WITH A PASSION!

Wat was with the presentation at the end... they were playing for some shield, Id never heard of it.... anyone know?

What can I say guys?
You were robbed.
What sucks the most is you were robbed by the refs.
Which seems to happening a lot lately.

Nope, we weren't robbed and any Broncos fan who claims we were robbed is huffing something.

You don't lead a game 16-0 and lose just because of the refereeing. You lose because you slack off, get tired, suffer injuries, something. In the Broncos case it was a bit of the first two.

What annoys me the most is that everyone knows it's the most difficult thing in rugby league to change momentum of a game if you're tired. And yet the Broncos continually allow opposition teams to get the edge in momentum in the last 10 minutes before, and/or first 20 minutes after half time.

We did it against Penrith. We did it against Parramatta. In both those games we were lucky they were shit.

We've now also done it against Newcastle (albeit in shit conditions), against Manly, and against St George-Illawarra and all three teams beat us.

The players, and yes it's mainly the bench forwards, need to HTFU!

Yep I agree, we need more momentum coming from the bench. And a decent dummy half to get the forwards rolling.

Does anyone know what the penalty was for when we had the ball? It was when they took a shot at goal to go up 22-16

I have more issues with the Clinton offside penalty, the ball was stripped, if anything accidental offside and a scrum, not a penalty.

True that. It would have meant that Parker wouldn't have needed to convert to send the match in to golden point. Talking of which, did anyone else watching the broadcast on channel 9 get the impression Parker was going to miss the goal when it was only 3 minutes until 6pm. If the match had headed in to golden point, nine wouldn't have allowed enough time to broadcast it. Surely Coxy would have been that smart ...

Duhhhh....I'd need to be able to tell the time to know that

I noticed that too.

I didn't see much of the first half but saw the game with about 30mins to go.

How terrible was our defence! They carved us up in the middle of the pack.

I'm sorry but Michaels is absolutely shithouse, he MUST go! Winterstien is pretty good in attack but definitely lacks in defence. He's still learning though, it will all come in time.

Parker should have got that goal by the way, what a crappy attempt.

He was always going to miss because he was standing right in front of the BHQ Crew. They always jinx our own kickers :P

I assume you are not meaning us but the Logan alliance

For one of the solidiers who died in 2007 in Afganistan who lived in Brissie but was a Manly fan (Trooper David Pearce I think his name was from memory).

Hadn't considered that actually but haven't seen a replay either, at the end of the day it was a crap carry by Michaels anyway

it was called the Manly are f--wits shield...they win it every year

Okay, so you weren't robbed. But the momentum of the game was shifted because of a decision by the refs.
Not just one iffy try, but two by Lyons.
Now I don't particularly like Gus Gould, but I respect his undisputed knowledge of the game and in his opinion both should have been ruled no tries.
With Lyons second try. What was the difference between his tap on and the one done by Jarryd Hayne last week. I'll tell you the difference. The ref and a try.
Sure the Broncos shouldn't have dropped their bundle, but when you get two calls like that at such a critical time in the game it takes the wind right of your sales.
Manly were very lucky they got the bounce with both the ref and the ball.
Only wish we were playing Manly next week instead of the Broncos.

I've clarified this with a mate of mine who's a Q Cup ref/touch judge.

Who is this friend of yours Coxy? I need to know so I can give him crap when he refs an Easts game icon_smile

and is he open to bribes?

Haha, well he's based in Rockhampton and so basically just does Central Comets games. Housh Fallah is his name.

From the Q Cup:

Giant young Broncos star Taylor scored one and set-up two other tries, busting a tackle for five-eighth Jade Williams to touch down before throwing a 20-metre cut-out pass for winger Junior Auru to crash over in the corner for the match-winner with two minutes to go.

Time to bring him back in for Palmer Wapau IMO. Palmer's had a taste, now needs some time back in Q Cup to think about it.

Absolutely. I mean - he can play left centre. [icon_lol1.

But let's hope he's met Henjak's “training targets†(whatever they might be...) But it seems they're different ones that apply to a number of our forwards [icon_razz1

Well personally, I would think having played 70-odd minutes and having the energy and commitment to be involved in 3 tries in the final 10 minutes to steal victory would be a pretty good training target.

Comets were down 32-6 with 18 minutes to go!
