Broncos vs Tigers Game Thread (Teams Announced)

He is still suffering from his neck injury and he isn't over his virus that he had last game. Going through more tests tomorrow.

I'm happy with that team. but i really want Marsh back. if Hodges is ruled out, i think Stagg will move to the centers with Thaiday moving to 2nd row and either Kenny or Clinton moving to starting prop.

Pretty good team seeing as we had a few injuries last week against souths.

It should be enough to get a win at ANZ against the tigers, however I believe it will be close, maybe a point or two in it. All depends on what Wally does on friday night and whether Hodgo and others pass fitness tests [icon_pray.

Pardon my ignorance but who's Derrick Watkins?

Backrower, formerly from the Cowboys, who was investigated for sexual assault a couple of years ago. Oh right, we don't talk about off field stuff huh?

Good player who's been playing for Redcliffe in the Q Cup this year, been in the Broncos system for 3 years now I think.

What sort of backrower? A similar style player to who?

Not sure, but from the little I've seen of him, most resembles Tonie Carroll. Hard running, hard hitting, not terribly "bally". BroncoMatt or mick! would be more descriptive!

I'll try and be a little more descriptive [icon_lol1.

Hard hitting - DEFINITELY. He's actually a bit of a mix between TC and the likes of SBW really. His tackles aren't always as effective as Carroll's, but he definitely has that shoulder-charge sting that a lot of good backrowers have. So I'd say he hits with a bit more power and oomph than TC, but not as much as SBW...

From what I've seen in the lower grades, he's also a very strong angle runner and has a VERY good fend. Has had plenty of success when it comes to drawing in defenders and getting away offloads or getting rid of the pill just as he hits the line.

Not overly sure of how close he is to being solid in first grade, but definitely has some skills.

Interesting that people now write off Chris Lawrence's defence after a couple of lapses against the Sharks. He has actually been strong defensively early in his career eusa_think

He's a below average player at this point of his career IMO. Most Tigers supporters I know think so too.

Well you and your Tigers supporter mates are pretty harsh on a 2nd year kid. He's not even 20 yet.

Amen Rock!

If the Broncos signed him tomorrow I'd be stoked!

Tigers fans love Lawrence!! He is just slack defensively every now and then.

Did anyone ever think they would hear the Broncos playing at ANZ Stadium again?

I like the team even without some players due to injury. I reckon Taylor will drop off the bench, allowing Watkins to make his debut, probably moving Sims into front row.

Good News For Hodges
Wed 30.4.2008 - Trad McLean

THE WOW Brisbane Broncos received good news on Justin Hodges' shoulder today but the Test centre will still have to prove his fitness later this week.

Importantly, scans showed Hodges has no ligament damage in his injured joint and merely a case of bone bruising.

He still will have to show medical staff he has improved somewhat to be able to play against the Wests Tigers in Sydney this Saturday.

That is likely to come on Friday when the Broncos have their final pre-match run before heading to Sydney.

Hodges said he still held high hopes of playing against the Tigers.

"I am still a fair chance of playing," he said.

"There is a bit of bruising and swelling there so I have to be a bit careful.

"But on Friday I will have to have a run and do a few tackles, and then we will be able to see how it is going."

Hodges did not train today, but the Broncos did have Karmichael Hunt training with the team for the first time since injuring his knee in round six.

Yeh I like the look of Lawrence as well...
Does he remind anyone of Glen Morrison? seriously a dead ringer!

so true haha I never really noticed till you said something.

A few tigers fans think they are actually a chance against our Mob of champions hahah they are kidding themself.

geez one place says Hodges will play and the other says he wont.

I hope Hunt isnt rushing into things here to get a spot in the SOO. My opinion he hasnt performed anyway to make it.

If hodges is out and Hunt is in i'd rather see Boyd stay at fullback, he's been playing much better than Hunt has this year.

Yeah i've read those too. Hodges will play. All the reports say he will be fine except the one about Hunt. I expect him to be there, even if he starts off the bench like he did last week.

Boyd's really starting to become an invaluable member of the backline.

He was great on the wing at the start of the season and has been even better since switching to fullback. And I can also see him having an equally good game from centre, if he plays there, this weekend.

He's been quality in a few positions, very valuable indeed.

I like the team. I hope we can win. Is PJ back next week?
