Broncos Vs Warriors - Pre & Post Game Discussion

Ah Mau and Watkins have made the trip to Auckland.

I'd like to see Watkins have a run. He has been playing front row for Reddy the last few weeks, and been playing the house down

You can't afford to be complacent/inconsistant when it comes to disicipline, it's more then just an issue of sleeping in that not dealt appropriately will only leave room for future problems.

I'd actually like to see Palmer Wapau introduced, but I'd be happy with Ah Mau.

Yeah it's about time this bloke got a run. That's probably a bit too experimental for Bennett at this stage in the season though.

I heard Palmer Wapau was supposed to make the side, but he didn't have a passport and couldn't go or something.

Yeah heard the same thing, what a shame his been playing really well for Redcliffe, I hope the Broncos stick with him his got real potential.

I heard he doesn't like flying, they usually knock him out but this time he got wise to Faceman's needle in the neck move.

this dropping players for sleeping in is a load of shit... honestly these guys aren't in the army for ***** sake

No, but they make big money and training is part of there job, i'd be in trouble if i slept in and was late to work.

Can we really afford to doing this? Surely a fine or some other form of penalty would do the job. With the year on the line with each week we play nearing the finals, is this another WB atempt at crueling our season.

hell i'm late for work 2 or 3 times a week, but I make up for it with my hard work. I'm sure Thaiday does the same

Except it wasn't just a case of being late or sleeping in as its being made out to be, he missed a forward training session which given his position and rank in the side is an important thing, I'm sorry no amount of turning a blind eye or blaming Bennett (even to the point of accusing him of trying to sabotage our season [icon_thumbs_do )changes the importance of consistency with the treatment of player conduct.

Yep GC!

If Thaiday was simply fined, where does that put Eastwood mentally?

Hopefully something good does come out of it, and Eastwood starts in the back row. icon_thumbs_u

Grrrrrr. If we don't win and we have a lack of forward power, I'm going to be pissed.

I like the fact that unlike other clubs the Broncos apply their rules to all players, regardless of who it is.

Sammy, I love ya, but you stuffed up. I'm sure you'd be the first to admit it.

We won't win this game in the forwards anyhow so if the guys we have knuckle down and let our backs run the show we should come away with the 2 points. The players need to learn discipline and dropping them for sleeping in is a massive wake up call IMO.

Yep, thats it, drop them for sleeping in, but don't drop them if they are out of form. Bloody hell! If you make the fine big enough and the whole club knows about it then it will do a good enough job. Sometimes WB puts his own values and stances on things above the overall benefit of the club. I we get rolled and it's because the Warriors walk over the top of our pack or our pack lacks the punch that Sammy T gives it, then WB will be to blame... BUT we'll all be happy that at least we did it our way.

Except he wasn't just guilty of sleeping in and theres the problem, you can't downplay an offence to justify allowing a player to play, you start compromising on the consequences to offences particularly when you have applied them to other players it sends mixed messages to the players and can effect the players and the team's own performance on the field. Bennett has the clubs overall benefit first and formost and that means at times putting ahead of having your best players on the field, something that can't just be brushed aside, if you aren't prepared to make the tough decisions (and that means unpopular decisions which is something Bennett hasn't been afraid to make) then get out of the kitchen.

I question the effectiveness fines have on players particularly in a the team environment(where IMO the absence from the side would have more of an effect on wanting to do better next time not just for themselves but the side especially at a time its building a run to the finals) the Broncos have and the Broncos have had a very strong history of good behaviour and a healthy public image thanks to the hard stance the Broncos have taken (thats not to say they haven't had their fair share of players causing problems but they are dealt with appropriately in a fashion other clubs should adapt), compared to other clubs that have fines and repeat offenders alongside it. We haven't always got it right but I'm proud of the way we have dealt with issues of players behaviour.

Yeah but didn't Eastwood get a run anyway because we were low on troops... double standards

I'm assuming you mean the Canberra game where Ennis was a late withdrawal? Eastwood responded positively to the action taken by Bennett and earnt a callup with an 80m effort for Wynnum the night before, hardly double standards when the player responds in the right manner to the message prior to him being called back into the side.
