Broncos Vs Warriors - Pre & Post Game Discussion

so thats how it works? You play a good game the night before and all of a sudden you're recalled? Don't think so.. he was dropped and regardless of how well he played against Wynnum he wasn't supposed to be playing in the NRL that week

I like the fact that unlike other clubs the Broncos apply their rules to all players, regardless of who it is.

Sammy, I love ya, but you stuffed up. I'm sure you'd be the first to admit it.

It's all Rueben's fault he didn't wake him up [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1.

Save him from the big Warriors pack for the finals run home [icon_wink

Can we really afford to doing this? Surely a fine or some other form of penalty would do the job. With the year on the line with each week we play nearing the finals, is this another WB atempt at crueling our season.

Bollocks.

What's the point of having rules in place in you're not going to enforce them?

Considering the offence(we aren't talking about abusing a ref, urinating under a casino table etc here) there should be room for it on first offences if available for incentives for players to be called back into the side that weekend if the circumstances call for it and the player has responded appropriately.

I think we all know why he was even considered for the raiders match... which to me is double standards.

Rewrite the rules then, if you turn up drunk to training - fine, drop them. If you turn up late once or twice a friendly warning.

Really so you would risk a player to injury you intend to play against Canberra in a Queensland Cup game and play him in it 80 minutes to replace a player who's a late withdrawal?

Being late and non attendance are two different things, he didnt attend a forward training session.

He played because we were low on troops, simple as that. They thought shit we need some help here and looked at his performance in the qld cup and recalled him based on how he performed.

Sorry but once you drop them you can't just recall them because the club is low on players, it's another big game for us this weekend but I don't see the Broncos willing to bend the rules for it.

Whos says they are bending the rules? they afterall being the club set their own rules (not the fans) and they could well leave room for it to happen. Theres no proof that the decision was just made as you suggest purely because the club was low on players (one withdrawal doesn't necessarily mean they would jump straight to Eastwood) and not on the players response to the decision, on the otherhand one needs only look at Eastwood's efforts the night before to realise he responded well and in the appropriate fashion, theres far more evidence to suggest he was rewarded when the circumstances arised for responding in a positive fashion which is the goal.

And what if you don't turn up at all like Thaiday did?

They can make whatever rules suit them, but the same rules must apply to all players regardless of the situation the club is in. If it's a grand final this weekend, then bad luck... if we have 10 first graders injured, too bad. I find it hard to believe that a rule exists saying you can redeem yourself prior to kickoff playing a qld cup game.

It's not that hard to believe they would have flexibility within the rules that allow for special circumstances for what you would describe as lesser offences, we used to have them at the clubs I used to play soccer and hockey as a teenager (when I was actually fit lol). It's unfortunate for Sammy his not going to be in a situation to get a callup but thats just the situation and really Eastwood was lucky at the time that the situation was open, no double standards IMO.

In the end its pretty pointless, Sammy is on the sideline, time to move onto who's going to fill the void.

I personally love the Broncos stance on things like this. Keeping our players in check.

Any other club would be a slap on a wrist- hell! you can have sex in public and still play!

How about, for every 5 minutes you're late thats an extra 30 minutes you need to stay back after training?

Detention now? Geez.

Don't train, don't play. Simple solution to me and I like it.

maybe it should be left up to the rest of the team to decide your fate.

they may make you do 50 push ups or do a training session in a dress etc etc etc.

i think there is an easier way to get it in their heads , but i still go along with what management want, as long as they continue it for every player.

If Locky slept in id want to see the same happen.

I read this morning that it was the Forwards as a team that set the rule that if one of them misses training they miss a game. The Leadership teams decision....
