Broncos withdraw offer for Hunt

Not to mention everyone's lovechild Kemp is off contract at Warriors 2010, as is the most improved back of 2008; Tate.....

I wouldnt blame Denan Kemp if he didn't want to come back to the club that offered him minimum wage. And imagine that, offer him $60k in 2008, and throw 3 times the money at him in 10' to try to lure him back. Disastrous.

The next couple of weeks he needs to be watched. If his form slumps from this, he's cut.

Yikes, I thought the dealine was this coming Friday? I'm actually nowhere near as happy with Hodges being the fullback as some of the people here. Hodges can be lazy in defence, he doesn't read the game anywhere near as well as most fullbacks do, and he seems to struggle under pressure. If Hunt goes, we need to give anyone but Hodges a go there, or maybe even recruit someone (Denan Kemp?).

Yo Alec, before you chicken little, wait out. No one is saying Hodges to fullback tomorrow!

On Kemp, he'd only becoming back on that big coin IF he is a success in NZ. Besides the boot, his game wasn't too flash on Saturday!

FFS for the last 3 seasons we have continued to lose big name players from the Broncos it is getting out of hand. Surely hunt will resign with the Broncos he belongs at the club.. IMO what happened at the end of last season should have no bearing on whether we resign him.. Thaiday recently resigned and he was in the toilet too.

The Broncos didn't withdraw because of the toilet sex.

I'm sure they are sick of being strung along by their big name players for nothing. Good on them, sink the boot in.

Most of the time it is the Managers playing silly buggers not the players. Look at what happened with Petro. I know the clubs offer withdrawal had nothing to do with the incident but others on this forum seem happy to let him go because of it when he wasn't charged with any criminal offence.

I didn't like the fact that 3 of our better players thought it was a good idea to go on a 12 hour drinking bender during the finals series when we have a knock out game the following weekend, I also don't like the fact the said session led to them completely humiliating the club because 3 of them decided to act obscenely in a public toilet with a girl regardless of charges it was not the right thing to do especially when you consider the timing of the incident.

Having said all that, I want Hunt to stay but not for all the money in the bank. Sure he is dependable and was great on Friday night but he is replaceable in the sense we have players who could get into other sides at fullback in the near future and that we could get 2 decent players for what he is allegedly asking for.

Stating that K is easily replaceable is a bit over the top guys. I'd definitely be sad if he decides to leave. He showed how important he is to the Broncs last Fri and many times before. Tell u the truth, I'd rather have him in my team over any other fullback including slater, bowen or stuart. The Broncs won't be the same without him. I guess he's partly to blame in this situation. Hope he stays!

Mate we don't see eye to eye on a lot of things but you are spot on here. The Broncos players over the years that have been getting paid top dollar (Lockyer, Langer, Webcke, Civoniceva, Lazurus etc) have done very little to damage the reputation of the Broncos via ridiculous incidents that any responsible "leader" of the club would've known to avoid. Yes, there have been minor incidents with 1 or 2 of the abovementioned players, but nowhere near to the scale of what happened last year. I would like to think that someone that is asking for so much money is one that can be relied on to maintain the professional image of the Broncos. The big bucks aren't just earned on the football field.

Now, I am not saying I want Hunt to leave the club and I would be very upset if that were to happen but I think he has a long way to go before thinking of himself as the "number 1 man" at the club. So I applaud the Broncos' attitude towards Karmichael on this occasion.

Two things can happen here

1) Hunt acts like a petulant child and goes for the highest coin available even if it means buggering off to France, eating frogs legs, bathing regularly, wearing perfume and saying "Pardon".

2) He gives Rilio a kick up the bum after he realises he has a good offer from the Broncos and a good lifestyle here.

Hope the second happens.

Well this doesnt surprise me since he dogged the Kiwi's to play for Australia.

As they say, Once a dog Always a dog....

Well done Cullen.
Hit list now includes:
Civoniceva
Bennett
Hunt

BTW when it comes down to it, the decision is Lockyer or Hunt.

Personally would love both to say and honestly no fullback in the game runs that second man play off Lockyer better than Hunt.

Remember Hunt signed for a pittance 3 years ago - got promised the big bucks on the assumption Lockyer would be well and truly on the road by now.

Feeling a bit disillusioned and TBH think ex-footballers acting as managers pretending to be solicitors with all their "my client" talk and hard ball negotiation really is BS. Anyway we got over Civo, glad they didn't do it to Locky.

Merely playing silly buggars for mine. Player managers think they rule the game and half the time don't even tell their clients what is on the table. Riolo will now actually have to talk to K and tell him what the go is and they will then get serious. IMHO we will see him re-sign before SOO 1.

I've never heard the saying once a dog always a dog?
I don't like that he bought the club into disrepute last year... I think Hunt is an extremely valuable commodity and we should do everything we can to keep him at the club. However it seems like he's being greedy.
