Bulls 2014/2015

The Heat were bad. The Thunder nailed them with a good old fashioned ambush.

Phil Jaques = One of the most unluckiest players i've seen. Great opener that didn't get much of a chance due to selectors and injuries.

I think you're getting Phil and Kallis mixed up- Phil retired two years ago.

Ah thanks mate. Just when I saw Jaques' name I immediately thought of Phil Jaques not Kallis.

Burns would be Qld Test player 40.
Australian Test player 441.

He was the 15th Qld player to get 100 on debut his 140* places him behind Kent (140), Foley (155), Hayden (149) and fourth highest score on debut for Qld.

Joe has scored 100 for Qld at opener, Three, Four and five.

Burns is the first batsman since Warner to be picked for Australia while averaging 40 plus. Quiney, Doolan, Bailey and Cowan were all averaging less then 40.

I really hope Burns goes well in the 3rd test. If he scores runs he puts a lot of pressure on the selectors.

That last paragraph is horrifying.

And to think Hughes averaged 50 when they all debuted.

Unfortunately it is a sign of the times, the only young bats who average over 40 are Burns and Lynn I think

I hope Lynn gets a crack soon as well, I think he's actually got more upside than Burns, but Burns was chosen because of his leadership qualities mixed with good form I think.

Excluding Khawaja (27) there's one batsman around the country who is under 27 that averages over 40. It's actually a bit disturbing for the state of our young batsmen when you realise who that 3rd guy is.

It certainly is. At least we've got a few young young guys who are just under in Paterson and Bancroft I think. Maddinson is pretty close too I think.

Actually, I don't think I worded my last post right. I meant to say there was one other batsman (other than Burns and Lynn) who are under 27 and average over 40. That guy is Glenn Maxwell. Which is either a shameful reflection of our other young batsman, or a sign of hope that Maxwell could potentially become a high quality test batsman. It's probably a bit of both, but so long as he gets seven figure IPL contracts, I doubt we'll ever see Maxwell put in the work to match his natural talent.

Wade is pretty close to 40 if not over isn't he?

Come to think of it, so is Nevill. We are well stocked for keeper batsmen.

Yeah Wade's just under. Nevill is over but he's 29. We're definitely stacked for wicket-keeper batsman though. Though I don't think selectors would ever be comfortable picking a keeper as a pure batsman. They'd be too caught up on the fact they don't bowl.

Plenty with talent around, Carters is backing up his really good year last year again. Cooper scores big for SA.
