Bulls 2014/2015

If that crash craddock yarn is close to the mark I really find it hard to give a **** about this current bulls group...

It's 100% true, all it didn't do was name the group.

They're faced with no choice now, nothing short of five out right wins in the second half of the year.

What really needs to happen is the likes of Burns, Lynn and Forrest need to start making runs more consistently. I don't expect these new blokes to make much of an impact. I wish them well though. I have my fingers crossed that Steketee gets a game this weekend. The Bulls will be facing a fired up James Pattinson and Peter Siddle which will be a very good test for Burns and co.

Don't really know what to make of things. Law was given a mandate to toughen then up, so in that sense I can see why it might be unfair. But I seem to recall similar complains about Mickey Arthur were made by the Aussies in regards to his style of discipline and they're going a lot better since Boof took over.

The suggestion by Craddock not to appoint a coach actually seemed like an interesting idea though. If there really is a problem with the players nothing should expose it more than making them accountable like that.

Toyota Futures League
Queensland Academy of Sport v South Australia in Adelaide, Monday 9th - Thursday 12th February:
Matthew Renshaw, Marnus Labuschagne, Greg Moller (c), Ben McDermott, Simon Milenko, Sam Heazlett, James Peirson, Jack Wildermuth, Cameron Brimblecombe, Mark Steketee, Cameron Gannon, Alister McDermott.

He's been named for the twos so I don't think he will play the Shield game. Plan is just for him to prepare with the Bulls but then go to Adelaide.

Shame is that these young guys have been dumped in the middle of this, instead of coming into a calm assured environment they're now coming into a storm where they need to perform.

We aren't talking homework or harshness we are just talking hard work and home truths if needed.

That is a shame. He looks like a guy who could have a future. I'd have liked to see him get a few games before the end of the season. I am not sure how Pierson has gone in grade cricket but I wouldn't mind seeing him get a few games as a batsmen in shield cricket. He looks like a very handy clean striker of the ball.

Yep he is good player. He will find a tough to be next in line for the gloves in the long term with a McDermott and Healy coming through who both keep.

Pierson does look good enough as a bat alone though which is great. He has a beautiful technique, actually kind of looks a bit like Gilchrist when he bats.

You've ignored several points.

The season is only half over, so we will never know where they would have finished.

No it doesn't mean one of those two things, you've forgotten he's a very good coach that the players have decided is too hard on them and doesn't make it easy so they're just not playing.

All QC have done is given into three players who were unhappy and didn't want their professional career to be too hard. Just let us cruise along if you're not going to do that we will complain.

Law was given the job of being tough on them and told by QC that was his charter, he did that and he got sacked- how is that fair? He got sacked for doing what he was told.

Interesting point you raise about Lehmann, two things one he came in after a similar situation to Law regarding Barsby and they were winning- players don't look for fault when they're winning. You overlook things and put up with what you don't like. Start losing and I bet Lehmann would have come under the same microscope.

Players have now had two coaches sacked for training too hard and pushing them to be better too much. Where to now? Do those three players pick the coach? Just let them interview candidates?

What's it say about those players- I don't like the coach he's too hard so I am going to not get wickets and runs.

Sure Law had faults, I am not suggesting he didn't- but they weren't sackable because every coach has faults. Why can't we work on faults anymore? Why don't we say few players think you can do this better- let's work on that this off-season.

You haven't looked at any of these questions you've just looked at a table and sacked a guy.

The season is only half over, so we will never know where they would have finished. I didn't realise the big bash season was still going? that's great news might give them a chance to rise above the wooden spoon

No it doesn't mean one of those two things, you've forgotten he's a very good coach that the players have decided is too hard on them and doesn't make it easy so they're just not playing.Firstly, I don't know that he is a very good coach, he quite possibly is but all I can go on is the results as that is all I am privy to. In any case you're never wrong so I will assume he is a very good coach, but even you can't deny that part of being a very good coach is keeping the player group. I'm not saying the playing group aren't a bunch of soft ***** that need to harden up but that is part and parcel with alot of that generation in every sport. The 'very good coaches' find a way to motivate and improve these sorts of players or they get rid of them if they have tried everything and can't.

All QC have done is given into three players who were unhappy and didn't want their professional career to be too hard. Just let us cruise along if you're not going to do that we will complain QC are obviously a basket case. I never said otherwise so I don't see the relevance

Law was given the job of being tough on them and told by QC that was his charter, he did that and he got sacked- how is that fair? He got sacked for doing what he was told.Never said it was fair, sport isn't fair most of the time. It's a results business and at the end of the day if they weren't on the bottom of the table those three players could have said whatever the wanted and they would be the ones shafted, not the coach

Interesting point you raise about Lehmann, two things one he came in after a similar situation to Law regarding Barsby and they were winning- players don't look for fault when they're winning. You overlook things and put up with what you don't like. Start losing and I bet Lehmann would have come under the same microscope. Isn't the the fact the were winning Lehmanns doing? it's kind of a circular argument. Of course no one finds fault when you are winning and the great coaches win more than they lose

Players have now had two coaches sacked for training too hard and pushing them to be better too much. Where to now? Do those three players pick the coach? Just let them interview candidates?Once again I haven't excused these players, they most likely shouldnt be there and the coach should have gotten rid of them. I never excused the players so I'm fucked if I know why you have your knickers in a knot at me, I'm not QC.

What's it say about those players- I don't like the coach he's too hard so I am going to not get wickets and runs.

You haven't looked at any of these questions you've just looked at a table and sacked a guy. I didn't sack anyone, I simply suggested that it's a results business and the 'very good coach' had one way or another lead both sides to the bottom of the table (albeit one season was still going). In nearly all cases these days in these situations the coach will go because it is much easier to sack 1 coach as opposed to numerous players. That's just the way it is

Joe Dawes has a fair bit of experience. Wouldn't mind him as the Heat coach. He needs to be able to attract big name international signings though. I think having a coach for the Bulls and a separate coach for the Heat would be a good move.

Vettori would be a pretty good option. My preferred option of the names I have heard at this stage.

Mikenko in for Hopes.

Third debutant.

Vic 2/19

Feldman and George one each.
