Bulls 2014/2015

Moises Henriques won't play Friday he's out for a month.

Khawaja has a broken thumb. Team named today, McDermott will be back.

Yeah, massive blow. Probably Burns to open. Or they might look to bring Pierson (I think that's his name) he replaced Hartley when he was injured last season.

Thursday 23 October 2014

The my FootDr Queensland Bulls have replaced injured batsman Usman Khawaja with 19-year-old Ben McDermott for tomorrow’s Matador Cup elimination Final against arch rivals NSW at Blacktown.
Khawaja is seeing a hand specialist in Sydney today to determine the extent of a thumb fracture suffered while scoring his second consecutive century in the Matador Cup yesterday in the win over Western Australia.

McDermott, a wicket-keeper and top order batsman, flew to Sydney this morning and will train with the Bulls today at the SCG.

He will wear jumper number 28 if he makes his Queensland debut tomorrow in the day/nighter.
An Australian Under-19 World Cup representative last year, McDermott played for the Brisbane Heat in BBL|03.

He is the younger brother of Bulls and Heat pace bowler Alister McDermott and son of former Test quick Craig McDermott.

The Wynnum-Manly right-hander spent the winter playing in England as part of Cricket Australia’s scholarship program and enjoyed a solid pre-season with the Bulls and Queensland Academy of Sport, including 63 against the touring ICC World Cup side Scotland earlier this month.

The final line-up for tomorrow’s match will be determined once the team inspects the pitch at Blacktown, which will be the first time in the tournament they have played at the venue.
Khawaja is the leading runs-scorer in the tournament so far with 523 runs at 74.71,while fellow opener Chris Hartley has 400 runs at 66.67.

The winner of tomorrow night’s game will meet WA in Sunday’s Final at the SCG.

I already said that McDermott was the replacement.

Bulls in all sorts at 5/72

Hopes and Floros need to stablise the innings if we're any chance.

Pretty good fight back for the Bulls. They've got a sniff if they bowl well enough.

Bulls have thrown it away. Had it won and then get belted by the tail. Fmd

Really good game of cricket there QLD showed some great fight with the bat to make that score whilst NSW had to fight very hard and won in difficult circumstances on a tough wicket.

Now to look forward to the Big Bash I guess! We just signed Andrew Flintoff which is pretty awesome, expected 11 assuming Watson isn't picked in the tests against India.

1. Watson
2. Burns
3. Lynn
4. Flintoff
5. Reardon
6. Christian
7. Hopes (c)
8. Peirson (wk)
9. Cutting
10. Vettori
11. Gannon

Dat batting line-up.

Edit: Where's Chris Hartley playing for BBL04 1910? Is Peirson viewed as our #1 option for the T20's?

Don't think Hartley has a gig yet for Big Bash, doubt he will. There's enough keepers going around to fill the teams. Don't think Flintoff will bat as high as 4. Reckon he'll be 7 or 8 and used as a bowling all-rounder. We also have to remember he will be joining the team for 2nd half of season also.

I reckon you'll see something like this:

I'm assuming Watson will be playing tests

1. Burns
2. Pierson
3. Lynn
4. Christian
5. Reardon
6. Cutting
7. Hopes
8. Vetorri
9. Gannon
10. Badree
11. Duffield

Flintoff to swap for Badree when he's available

Disappointing last night, didn't bat well and it was too hard to peg back- Hopes was outstanding. Shame not to win three in a row.

Through the whole comp I thought Khawaja and Harts were outstanding and got the Bulls off to huge starts, Fielding was good and Hopes was great in the field. Bowling was a little wayward and all over the shop. I think George will love bowling at the 'Gabba.

Shield starts on Friday v South Australia.

He's the only keeper named in the Heat squad.
Lynn won't play he's busted and will struggle to get back by Christmas.

Harris having a bowl today for Toombul.

I think the Bulls lacked balance in their bowling attack. A bowler like Allister McDermott would have been handy in the Matador Cup. He seems to be out of favour since Stuart Law has been coach. A real shame Lynn is injured. I thought this year he really could have pushed hard for higher honours. Joe Burns needs to pull his finger out as well. Very talented but gets out LBW too often. I have to agree that Peter George will love bowling at the Gabba.
