Buying the Broncos

I see ....so you buy a company and THEN you do due diligence on it. Hmmmm interesting concept. No doubt this must be your secret weapon. :001_rolleyes:

Are you serious.....? You expect that kind of lame empty "résumé" is going to pass .......:loool:

Oh yes, I see now it's as I suggested earlier. This a ruse

a discussion set to entertain us all.

Bravo........!!

Oh mr Fourex you are a strange character. As much as I enjoy our back and forth, it is very hard for me to deal with your stupidity so I will no longer bother. I won't loose any sleep tonight if you think this is a ruse or not.

I actually think Greg Alexander is spot on with most of the things he says. I think he's right on this too, Wallace/Prince and Norman at the back is what we need.

I would also love to have Folau back, I just wish it was this year but it seems Parra had him all wrapped up.

Before buying the club why don't you sponsor the club for a few years? It will give you a chance to see how well the club is run from a professional POV. You will also be able to mingle with other business men, where you might be able to even grow your business further and even get your name out within the circle, if the option to buy ever came up.

like someone suggested, if i was rich enough to buy a club i wouldnt actually buy the club - i would throw the blank chequebook at players for third party deals, meaning we can get the best of the best to the club. thats what a real fan of the club would do, not try and buy it to use as their personal chew toy.

Nah. A real fan would buy all the other clubs and then force them to release all their good players so the Broncos win every game every year. YEAAAHHHH! :P

 well isn't this typical? I rarely agree with Brandy. Even in the trial game where he was talking about how great a game Beale was having despite making a multitude of errors.

Doesn't help that he tends to rip into the Broncos whenever he can.

I don't watch Fox Sports so I don't know what his commentary is like haha. I'm only judging him based on what I read about him from time to time.

You do realise that you can't do this don't you?

You can if you have no affiliation to the Broncos however then you don't get the benefit of being a club sponsor to see what the club is like.

I have already looked into this a few years back and again last year.

All third party agreements must be registered and approved beforehand. This is to ensure that they do not become a way for clubs or players to use sponsors or third parties to undermine the salary cap.

I know for a fact that Broncos don't have any problems getting third party agreements for players.

Do you really think the NRL would allow a club to throw money at players through third party agreements?

And as I have already stated, there would be absolutely no benefit for a bronco to market my company. If anything it would be detrimental.

you very much can actually.

if you go to thurston and say "i want to give you $1mil a year to be the face of my company in brisbane, but youll need to do lots of stuff for me on-site so youd have to move this way most likely", not wearing any NRL jersey or referring to him as a broncos player, that doesnt count towards the salary cap/third party cap.

are the thoroughbreds still around? that was basically the biggest salary cap rort in history but it was legal because of the way it was set up. i know the coach doesnt go under teh salary cap, but bennett knew that as long as he stayed with the broncos he'd be getting a nice hefty cheque from the thoroughbreds each year. the players also get "guidance" and job opportunities through them. just go join them if you want to help the club.

It's hardly a rort when every other club can do the same thing, too bad if you don't have people with money that want to support your club.

Plus any money given to players by the thoroughbreds counts to the cap. So it isn't a rort.

Yes I do agree Coxy but if you were in that position and saw what is going on, would you not speak up. Especially when you invested so much. This investment is not to make a profit on my money obviously I could get a lot better ROI by putting the capital to work in my current business. NFL and English football managers have a big say in the sporting side.

And how good are the Dallas Cowboys going with Jerry Jones giving his $0.02? And the Raiders drafted so well when Al Davis (RIP) was trying to assemble a track team?

I understand were you are coming from but I disagree. It's not like hook has the best credentials, he never played first grade football. I played league up until the age of 16. I represented Queensland schoolboys 4 years in a row so I do have some experience. I'm not saying that I am qualified to be the coach and I would never do that. What I am saying is that it's not like it is easy to go from nothing to a multi millionaire, it takes a lot of hard work and smarts. I believe my opinion would be a valid one.

You can't tell me that none of you would keep your mouth shut if the team you owned were going shit and you felt you knew why.

Good coaches aren't usually the best players.

Great players played on natural ability and didn't have to think too much, they just could turn it on week in week out.

A coach like Bellamy played first grade but was never a star (granted he played in arguably the most star studded team of all time) . He would have had to have been a very astute student if the game and consequently is one of the reasons he's a great coach.
