Cam Smith & Melbourne's Wrestling/Grappling.

Gould, Johns, Geyer and co are all brushing it off as a nothing incident, saying that if anything comes of it it'll be courtesy of trial by media, etc.

haha, that's no surprise.

Gotta love Johns with that offside Inglis no try. Voss: "Is he on-side?" Johns: "Yeah, I reckon he's just on-side".
Does he have a coaching position etc with the Storm?

Smith has to be cited he attacked the head of Thaiday and Jeremy for the chicken wing.

What amazes me the most about Melbourne is they almost do nothing to hide their tactics. I'm sure most clubs have certain trainers to teach them to make sure the tackle is dominant, but Melbourne are out to inflict pain while their opponent can't defend themselves. And it seems like they do very little to try and hide it.

It is a coward act what they do.

The player is held in a tackle, can't do anything and some grub comes in and twists his neck or tightens their arm around it.

People have a go at Ennis for pushing someone then hiding behind his forwards, what Melbourne do in their tackles is one hundred times worse.

Bunch of dogs.

You know, the funny thing is this, I've never really given in to the Storm being so called grapplers. I mean I knew they were doing it, but I just thought they were better wrestlers or what have you. (admittedly I didn't watch too many storm games but enough to not think too much about it)

Last night, I truly realised how much they wrestle and slow down the play the ball. It's rubbish. Absolute rubbish. Obvisiosuly the illegal moves are a given, but even the legal wrestling they use within the rules, its just bashing the hell out of expansive rugby league play. I was blowing up at the ruck last night.

Smith, he's a ringleader in that rubbish too.

He's a ringleader, and when he gets caught he whinges like hell.

IMO C. SMith should have been sent to the bin for 10mins for that tackle way before Lima should have been sent - what I couldn't believe was he wasn't even the player penalised at the time. Even if it didn't meet the 'definition of a grapple' (what that actually is I don't know because as far as I am aware the term grapple tackle doesn't appear anywhere in the rules of the game - it's a term coined by the media), it was still deliberately attacking the head/neck of the player.

I disagree with them - in fact the opposite would be more likely - if he's not cited, charged and suspended it will be because these idiots and other media have dismissed it as nothing. I firmly believe that all media should be banned from commenting on foul play until the judicial process in the the matter is 100% complete and the player has either been suspended or cleared.

And these other comments I have heard today about it not being worth rubbing a player out of the finals - double standards much? If it's against the rules it's against the rules whether it's week 1 of the season, the preliminary final or the grand final - the punishment should be the same.

If the NRL had any balls they'd take a stand and make an example out of Smith.

They won't though. They'll come up with some pathetic excuse not to ban him.

Yep Ning - he seems to be a protected species, but we all know he's one of the biggest grubs in the game. I hate it so much when Lockyer is out for rep matches, not only because we'll miss Locky but doubly because I know Smith will be our captain.

I'd have Smith at the Broncos in a heartbeat. In fact, I'd sell Je$ter's nuts to have him here.

I have never wanted Cam Smith at the Broncos.

He still whingers saying the Broncos didn't offer him a contract.

Though I heard they did years ago.

I wouldn't even sell them. I'd give them away.

Smith? No thanks.

He's the most influential player in the NRL. Any club would be crazy not to throw as much coin as they can at him when he comes off-contract.
