Corey Parker announces retirement

Better to go out a year too early than a year too late..

Gonna miss the hell out of him though

i wonder if he got the tap? Wayne loves a tap

Look, I think the question need to be asked . Did Corey retire his own decision OR was he pushed?! If push, I think he deserved better then that! A lot of questions that need to be answer about just what has gone on.

Bennett said he had guaranteed Parker next season, and after that it would have been a year by year basis, so I don't think he has been forced out. Just his time to go I guess.

call me a sceptic, but looking at the press conference he did not want to retire!!! i hope im wrong but it feels to me he was pushed into this rather than his own accord. his form this year has been top line again and he is a current origin player. it stinks to be honest.

We had better have a decent signing to confirm soon. Jai Arrow talk is pre-mature to even compare the smell of the skid marks in each players undies.

I applaud Corey Parker for doing so as it clearly wasn't an easy decision to make on his part, a true champion of the game who wasn't gifted the skills and talents of other players and instead worked very hard to become the player he is and as such will be missed.

So we keep thaiday and retire parker........................

Well it is official, whoever is appointed captain next year will retire by the end of next season.

Who's comparing him to Parker? It's just nice to know that we've got a guy who could come in next year and fill a similar role to what Parker does for us.. Obviously not at the same level, but a workhorse lock who can make big metres and offload the ball.

Hopefully we can announce some long term extensions for Gillett & Milford now that we've freed up a bit of cap space. Signing an elite outside back would be nice also.

Parker is retiring. We need another good forward to replace him. The amount of work he does in the middle for our team can not be underestimated.

I don't think we need another elite back to be honest. We have Boyd, Reed, Kahu, Oates, & Roberts on the books. A depth signing wouldn't be the worst in the world but we don't need to break the bank getting another outside back. This is what the under 20s is for. Get a talented kid from the 20s and bring him up on the wing if need be

arrow is a million miles from parker, yep he makes metres in q cup but that doesnt automatically mean it will replicate in the nrl. arrow may not even be the option!!!

We have some of the best young forwards coming through, I can't see us going out and signing a forward, when we could lose some of our best young players.

Could Hipgrave be an option? He was being talked up to be Corey Parkers replacement.

That's why have this amazing thing called a pre-season, to determine if he's the guy. If he's not I'm sure we could just start Wallace/Ofahengaue and shift Blair to lock.

Well sadly even champions have to retire at some point, at least we have some good prospects waiting in the wings and we definitely don't need to sign another forward. We still have three international backrowers after all (yes I know Thaiday doesn't play like one).
