Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

Cool, so my guess then would be that if Manly are in breach, then they have to be the guaranteed 3rd party ones, which means that it's like they're short-paying him. If this is true, then as has been said, either his manager is going public in order to shame Manly in to honouring their deal, or he's doing it to genuinely test the market. Any possibility that they simply can't afford him (for example, the future cap increases are already eaten by % clauses in other contracts), and they've overspent, and have done this on purpose to attempt to offload him? Maybe they had to decide between him & Stewart (who was the last to sign of the recent big names) and DCE is getting the boot? Oh how I do home so.

PS. I would comfortably pay $800k for DCE, and I am a mega tightarse. On Cronk's current form, DCE is arguably ahead atm.
Yeah the guaranteed deals are from like club sponsors, lets says Audi can give a car to a player as one of the club 3rd party deals. Last time I remember it was something like 150-300k that club can provide as 3rd party deals with sponsors who are part of the club and they can guarantee these (hence they count with the salary cap).

I'd say if DCE's problem is with sponsorships/3rd party deals then it's a guaranteed one which the club or the club's sponsors haven't followed through on and paid DCE.

DCE is easily worth 800k if Carney was being offered 900k, Thurston 1.2 million, Farah 900k, Benji reportedly 1 million. DCE is as good as any of those elite players and we have the money to buy him, in fact I think we're the only club who could offer DCE a good contract that would tempt him enough to leave Manly. He's also 5 years younger than any of them which is a massive advantage.

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

All these rumours about us signing quality players, none of them have been coming true. This one would be the most godly, but it's hard to stay optimistic.

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

It's obvious by the way his manager is talking, playing on the Qld boy crap, that hes using the Broncos and talk around Wallace wanting a release as leverage against Manly to sort the third party stuff out. He won't be the last either with all these rumours about the Broncos.

Yeah, I guess that's the most likely scenario.

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

I'd happily pay DCE $800k-$1m a season for the rest of his career, we need someone to build the club around. As someone said though, it's just hard to stay optimistic, if we didn't re-sign Hunt.. or if Wallace left.. or if Prince retired then I might be a little bit more confident, but as it stands we have 3 halves, all of which are signed until the end of the 2014 season or later.

And we wouldn't have guarantees from Parker / Griffin that Wallace will play in Brisbane until the end of 2014 if they was truly worried about him leaving for Penrith.

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

I'll personally pick DCE up from Manly and will do take a detour on my way back to drop Wallace off at the base of the Blue Mountains!

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

I'll stop holding my breath and wait till after Round 13

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

I would sign DCE in a heartbeat if this is true he is a far better player than Wallace and is everything you want as a halfback.

Hell, I'll personally be your Flinstones car.

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

OK so Wallace gets wind of the DCE signing and starts exploring his options south of the border. Penriff come to the party with a contract and word starts spilling out. Broncos jump on it and deny everything so as to not screw it up. All sounds plausible to me. Only need DCE's best mate barba to come on board as well and we have our spine aligned for the next 6 premierships.

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

Hahaha, also Panthers aren't resigning their current skipper, freeing up cap space yo.

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

Well Wallace denied it to Griffin, doesn't that count as Wallace denying the claims?

Re: Rumour - Daly Cherry-Evans

I at least hope we go with Wallace and Hunt next year. Not going to hold my breath for anything else.

Were you there were you. It could just be more bs that gets spun to the media, or wallace could be BSing Griffin
