Dane Gagai re-signs with Newcastle

Chris Garry tweeted that the Broncs can't match the big money on offer from other clubs (I presume Tits and the Knights). Also mentioned about Wayne being down in Newcastle.

5. Maranta

Where is the room for Gagai in the cap and the side realistically? I know most are going to say get rid of Maranta but the cap needs a guy like him in the team and even then we have Vidot/Oates/Reed still under contract and waiting on the wing.

Vidot looks gone now and Hodges is at the end. Can easily back end Gagais contract so he gets Hodgos money once he retires.

Personally I view Kahu/Copely as the future centre combination for Brisbane or even Boyd in there if we unearth a better FB...

Copely has shown small periods of brilliance backed up with a long run of mediocre games. The fact he cant even keep Reed out of the side proves he is anything but a lock in. Gagai would take his spot in a heartbeat, and on current form, hodges' spot (not suggesting that should or would happen tho)

I'm still going with this being Hodges final year.

I think Wayne is giving him the send off in style with the captaincy and he will be given the choice next your to either retire/move on/fight for his position with no guarantees next year.

Gagai to replace him in the centres.

I don't entirely disagree with your point but when Reed is injured, Copley moves into his spot and they bring in another winger. I'd say the problem is more a lack of wingers than Copley being shite.

My guess is you mean that Copley is only on the wing because a Reed Copley combo are our best two players on that side, due to our lack of viable wingers? I know that's kind of what you said but you kind of made it sound more like Copley only gets the spot if Reed I injured (signalling a lack of centres).
