Where is the room for Gagai in the cap and the side realistically? I know most are going to say get rid of Maranta but the cap needs a guy like him in the team and even then we have Vidot/Oates/Reed still under contract and waiting on the wing.

Its a good point as the salary cap dictates you cant have 17 superstars in your lineup but maybe the Gagai fund is going to come out of whatever happens with Thaiday/Glenn whether it be significant down grades to stay or no contract at all.
We have probably been back row heavy in our cap for a number of years when you look at Parker, Glenn, Thaiday, Gillett and before that also Teo.

Add in the Vidot money and it could fund Gagai?

Someone should tell the NRL and Roosters that the salary cap means you can't have 17 superstars in your team, because I don't think they got the memo.

Isaac Liu, Mitch Aubusson, Kane Evans, Siosiua Taukeiaho and to a lesser extent Dylan Napa and Sam Moa are not superstars. Solid first grader sure. They also developed RTS, Tupou, SKD, Pearce, Cordner and Friend so did not have to pay overs to entice them from another club.

Roosters got lucky with Jennings falling into their lap and also snapped up Ferguson in a less than ideal way but make no mistake, they are like most other teams when they are only a few injuries away from being a very different team. Their depth this week is Willie Manu and Lagi Setu.

Personally i don't think the Roosters push the cap any more than say Souths, the Dogs or even us.

The Broncos and the Dogs (maybe not anymore) have as side full of juniors, that's the way you want clubs to operate. Souths and the Rorters just go out and buy an entire roster at the expense of clubs like Canberra, Wests, Parra, and NZ.

Go and tell the Storm that they can only use juniors. Tell the Roosters they cant have Guerra after taking a punt on him when he had not even played first grade. Tell Canberra to hand back their trophies from the 90's GF wins because they were helped out by Qld players. Tell the Tigers to forget 2005 because Scott Prince and some Kiwi were instrumental in the win. Tell the high quality juniors at the Panthers like Jennings and Blake they cant move clubs and have to wait until Whare/Mansour/DWZ retire before they get a chance because other clubs buying them is not how they should operate.

I personally don't care how other clubs operate as long as it is within the guidelines of the rules all other clubs abide by.

I care about the Broncos, and to get this thread back on topic, i hope we manage to sign Gagai as i believe he will improve our backline.

Gagai has been wonderful this year. If he's willing to come here and for less because of WB let's take advantage of it. I mean, it's the scenario that got us Boyd and I think Gagai offers more than him.

I'd take Gagai in a heart beat but I think his performances are being enhanced somewhat by his opposition.

Played well against the Warriors and Titans but was up against Ben Henry and a make shift centre pairing of Hoffman and Zillman.

I didn't think much of his game against the Cowboys.

All of this talk about the broncos possibly missing out on gagai because we have "too many good backs" is ridiculous.

Reed, maranta and to an extent copley and kahu are all expendable if it means getting gagai. Obviously you dont need to lose 4 players to get him, so reed and maranta should do

My issue with Gagai is whether he'll consider a wing spot acceptable in the meantime. Because there's no way I want Copley displaced from centre, and Copley at wing is way worse than Gagai at wing. If he were happy to wait until Hodges retires then I'd be happy.
