Tom Flegler comes of contract end of 2021

How stupid is it that when Joe hits 2022 he will be 26 years old, arguably in his prime, and we sit down with him and say "mate, lets start this contract offer at $400K per season..."

Joe "um, I was on $500k per season..?"

"Yeh, sorry you weren't worth it..."

Flegler will be 22 years old end of 2021

$600k per season......"yeh mate, here's $450k per year..."

Can you see what's going on here?

These guys either hit their prime or just about to, AND WE HAVE TO OFFER UNDERS..!

With the money titans are throwing at Fifita every club knows they're in fire sale mode and won't be offering full price for anyone.

Peach was overpaid when he went there so he's probably on somewhere between $600k-$800k.

Of course people will want him, but anyone going for him will just lowball titans knowing they're desperate.

Peachy signed a 3 year deal worth $1.4 million So he isn’t on massive money. Cartwright’s contract is like Birds, nobody knows it’s real value. I’ve seen anything from a 4 year $2 million a year contract up to a $3 Million contact. I think It’s probably about 600k a year in all honesty.

I would love to keep him, but more then anything we want guys who at the club that want to be here and are willing to get a few 100k less to get a team around them that can win a comp. Titans will not be able to get a team around Fifi any time soon.

There's just no way any rational person would be convinced to take 500k less on the idea that this team is building towards a premiership.

I would say that if he struggles to make decisions, has trust issues then he cannot and should not be expected to handle being a million dollar player

Our season his EVERY year on the Gold Coast. Its one of the reasons why its been so difficult for Broncs fans to get their head around I reckon.....this is actually such a rare occurrence for us..

you are probably right; im whiting out the multitude of previous options thrown around...I WISH it was only for generational talents...

What do the Fifita’s expect will happen at the titans? I mean yeah we are having a shit year, but realistically this is the shitest year in the entire history of the broncos. This is a normal year for the titans.
Its a massive decision to make, no doubt.
I will have the highest respect for Dave if he turns the titan down. $1.1mill for 12 months is astronomical, finals or no finals.
But even with he and Tino at the club, they won’t be making the 8 for a while. Not until they sort players out in key areas, ie their spine.

My read on the situation...

The mentors in David's life got into his ear and explained the 400,000 reasons why he should go to the Gold Coast. Something one of them said hit a chord and just wanting to put this behind him once and for all, made some steps to finalise this so he could move on with his life. However, it dawned on him after making the decision he couldn't live with it. There were other things that mattered more, whether they be integrity, loyality I'm not sure and after getting feedback he's decided that this is where he wants to be regardless of all rational thinking.

The Gold Coast have heaped more pressure, the external voices are growing louder but David is his own man and he loves this club. If you listen to the players, this young brigade believe they have the capacity to win a premiership, they just need winners that can help take them to the next level.

What tips me is this idea that he wants to get this 1.25 million for a year, then sign back for Brisbane a year later. It sounds like he wants to take that offer as an obligation to himself and his family although he really doesn't want to. The opinions of those at the Broncos and the fans mean too much to him.
