OFFICIAL David Fifita signs with the Titans

This situation could go two ways at present.

If the club convinces Fifita to stay it will be a massive boost to the club, the fans but more importantly it will lift the spirits of his team mates to see him stay. The fact he will have knocked back a massive offer to stay will also be a major credibility factor for the club and help immensely in future negotiations with players. It will also make our administrators look like smooth talking miracle workers.

It may also stop the rumblings of players thinking they deserve more. Overall though, the feelgood factor could be just the tonic the boys need to change their current lack of confidence. As far as I'm concerned he deserves the captaincy when Lexy leaves if he does stay.

If he leaves however, the club will get over it, but it will be a long, long time before they ever return to the status of ' winning glamour club'.

I wonder if a solid win this weekend would sway him back to staying with us.
Sounds odd but I have no doubt the amount of media scrutiny and the feeling around the club is probably working against us atm.
A good win, the boys come back in on Monday happy, laughing and it’s back to being somewhat of a positive place and he probably starts to remember that feeling again. And from all reports he will be ready for next week.
A win on Saturday, into him re-signing on Monday, into him being named on Tuesday into him playing a MoM performance against the Tigers and we are back to being a happy club again, back in the winners circle!

I am biased but the titans track history should be such an alarm bell for any player. If he is honest with himself no edge forward is worth a mill, only a spine player or the best middle forward is worth that. The expectations and lack of support in the roster will hurt his career.

I really hope it's not us. Losing Fifita would be a massive loss but then having to listen to Gordy in the aftermath would really piss me off. He'd already be rehearsing the script that his wife has written for him.

I don't think the Broncos look bad purely because the Titans offer is totally reckless and financially irresponsible, it adds more pressure to an already inflated player market at at time when the economy is in poor shape and the game could be stopped at any time due to covid.

Its also a slap in the face to the rest of their squad, everybody else has to take a pay cut to accommodate that sort of offer or the quality of the overall squad suffers.

There is no way we should even consider matching the $1.25m even if we have the cap space.

$700k is a fair offer for where Dave is now and its only for 12 months, if he still isn't happy with our next offer (or the coach) he gets the opportunity again next year to test his value and get that long term deal.

The only time they mention Bhunt's contract is when they want to criticize the dragons... when they're talking about the Broncos it's typically that we let Bhunt go to the dragons and we haven't replaced him.
