Paul Kent on 360 is a laugh tonight 😂 **** me this bloke hates the Broncos.

If Fifita stays, we sign arguably the most exciting prospect that's come into the NRL in a long time.

If he goes, it frees up money for us to sign a player we desperately need. A player that can inspire and lift the rest of the playing group.

It's a bit of win-win really.
More than anything it ensures we keep all the young guys that we want to keep (Herbie currently off contract)... but who is this mystical talent that we can get other than Grant who isn't even off contract??

Hunt makes no sense but this is the best young backrower in the world by a country mile (the only one close enough is already signed by the Storm), a stupid offer is actually understandable.

It still makes no sense because he's a backrower. Smith you can understand because he's got the runs on the board and plays a position that handles the ball pretty much every play. Halves as well because there aren't many good ones and it's a key position. Fifi might touch the ball 15 times total a game?

If only a certain former captain had retired last year after the Eels thrashing, like some of us have been calling for the last 2-3 years, (or had shopped around a certain injury plagued NSW bench rep) then maybe we'd have enough cash to retain Fifita.

As it is, I'd want the kid to get the best offer for his family. He came from Keebra Park, more like a sense of returning and would hook up back with buddy Tino and play under a serious coach with vision in Holbrook. There is also that connection with former Broncs in Boyd and Taylor.

Hearing he would like to be in a more competitive environment where the coach who is actually serious about dropping non-performers like Cartwright, Peats, Wallace and Peachey.

Take the best offer for you and family, Dave - even if you are not tearing it up in a Bronco jersey, some of us will still support you anyways. :rooock:

He's not available next year but I'd like to see us go all out for Keary for 2022. Dearden is going to need an experienced player by his side to help his development and Keary fits the bill along with being arguably the best 5/8 in the game. His concussion history is an issue but worth the risk for what he can produce.

We have enough money to retain him. 1.25 is not realistic.

Nope we are stuck on 700k....while the two aforementioned have their wives instagraming their plush lives for doing f'all on the footy field. Why can't Fifita's mum have that? Her son literally carries the team most appearances.

Just because we wont go over 700k doesnt mean we cant. We are rightly not going to held to ransom. Fifita hasnt proved he is worth elite money yet.

Then that's too bad and too sad for our hypocritical club, rightly rewarding 'mediocrity' and on the other hand playing hardball to a once in a generation talent.

Or maybe the Broncos just don't want to make that type of mistake again. Giving ridiculous money to players that don't deserve it.

Maybe they are trying to learn from that and are trying to fix that and giving in to Fifita would be counterproductive.

I dont think we have rewarded any mediocre player with a massive contract have we, unless we are using hindsight, which obviously you cant use as you are taking things into consideration that were unkown at the time.

The Boyd contract length was an issue and we got that badly wrong, but the value was about right. His decline has been way, way faster than anyone would have predicted. You were saying 3 years ago people were calling on Boyd to retire when that just wasnt the case at all. Its only been the 2019 and 2020 years where he has been laughably bad.

Bird has just been unfortunate, but we wouldnt have known he would blow his knee out twice. I'm not sure Milf was ever worth a million, but at the time he renewed 800k to a million was probably market value for him.

I dont think Fifita is coming out of this looking anything more than a money grabber. I'd have more respect for him if he just said he wanted to do whats best for himself financially and leave it at that.
