DCE backflips to stay at Manly

So what was he doing last year? or was that B. Hunt in the 7 jersey last year carrying us throughout the year actually Bron Hunt? cool name if true

I'm not sure what he was up to last year. I'm glad someone worked it out and fixed it though. We have a far better half this year than we have in the past few years.

And by carrying us, you mean carrying us to barely scrape into 8th place? C'mon man, you can't possibly think anyone in our team carried a damned thing last year.

That's kind of the definition of carrying a team. Without Hunt we finish somewhere like we did in 2013, 12th maybe. Which is a lot worse.

Broncos aren't a one player team. They're aren't this year, they weren't last year.

That's a fair comment, he had Hoffman and Barba to help too

I'm 100% certain there were more than 3 players in every game.

Hell, if you're happy with Ben Hunt, I'm happy for you. But he's not the player you're making him out to be. He's not leaps and bounds above DCE. He will be soon, but he's not right now.

Is he a **** of a person? I have no idea. Do I like him for what he did to the Titans, not really, but I got over it. Anyway, we will see, in your words.

There was an interesting moment in the Broncos v Sea Eagles game.

It had only been moments since DCE's special play to get the Sea Eagles back into it and it seemed like Hunt wanted to do the same thing as he broke through and kicked for Kahu.

Except where DCE's was inch perfect, Hunt's was just a little off and gave Taufua a play on Kahu.

It really stuck with me since it seemed like Hunt was inviting a comparison and he ended up looking poorer for it, even though he had the better game on the evening.

That's a fair point but no one has claimed that Hunt's kicking game is better than DCE's, it clearly isn't. There is a lot more to halfback play than kicking and IMHO Hunt is better than DCE in most of those other areas. I'm clearly in the minority with this view though so I'll stop commenting on this subject.

Minorities are usually the most vocal! You don't have to leave a discussion just because you feel you're in a minority.

Nah mate I'm not cracking the shits or anything, I have just said all I can on the matter... until I think of something else :P

It's not so much Hunt's kicking game but just his play in general.

It's odd how the game will throw up those direct comparisons from time to time.

The question is, where do Manly go from here? They clearly need to start rebuilding and need more support around the middle. Myles should help, but they also need to bring in more up and comers if they want more stability in the long term.

Nate Myles is definitely on the decline when it comes to club footy. I really don't think their gains will help them a lot next year.

It's all going to be massive question marks in Manly until they assign a new coach, who actually knows how to coach. I can't see Toovey getting a gig anywhere else, he's very much taken Hasler's work and hoped for the best. Now he's showing that well, he's not much of a coach IMO.

Just on that, DCE's "special play" was really just lucky for him. The gap he strolled through was huge - worryingly huge - and even the kick, while it showed great vision, was really a "kick it and hope". There were no Broncos even close to where he was kicking, so it didn't really need to be that accurate.

It's hard to tell with him. You would have to think the Titans are a drain on any player's career.

True, maybe throwing a maroon jersey on will make him step up and not make Ben Hannant-like errors all the time.

I wonder how long he's been planning the move to Manly. Maybe he's had that on his mind. Foran, for example, has certainly checked out for the year.

agree with this , but wouldn't call it lucky either.. The ball could of landed anywhere in a 10m diameter of where it actually did land and still probably woulda been a try .
