I get your point. I’m not talking about from an emotional perspective though. That sucks for Lodge but the club is within their right to do that as long as they honour their end of the deal and pay him the money they agreed to, which they did. Lodge could’ve chosen to stay and play reserve grade and still get paid. Regardless of the outcome he gets what he was promised - an agreed upon monitory amount. And just for the record mate, I don't think you are wrong in what you are stating either, but I don't think I am either at the same time because every case is different. Speaking about two situations i know about, When Opacic got a release it worked for everyone and there were no dramas. When lodge was released he didn't want to go and basically got forced out. He didn't really have any choice but to go when he was stuffed around first by Walters then basically told he wouldn't be playing if he stayed. Both situations where the club did the right thing by a player and shit on another because it suited them to get him out.
If Haas leaves what does the club get? Nothing. It’s sad that we dont get to keep him but business isn’t about emotions. It’s about honouring legally binding contracts. If Haas left but we were still somehow ensured that a prop of the exact equal amount would slot straight into his spot than I wouldn’t care.
A contract with the broncos isn’t a promise to play first grade for the broncos for a certain duration, it’s a promise not to play for another team unless permitted by the broncos for a certain duration.
