They're also unable to earn any more competition points until they've removed enough players from their roster to get back under the cap, fined $1m and 5 officials have been sacked.

They will just remove Watmough and continue on
Good to see the officials get sacked as well.

NOOOOOO!! This is good for Parra as it means they will actually become better off the field in the long run and the NRL doesn't like progress.

Re: Eels Salary Cap Breach

THE Parramatta Eels will be docked 12 points, with the NRL to announce the club’s salary cap penalty at a press conference at 11.30am (AEST) this morning. The NRL investigation has uncovered the Eels are over the salary cap due to third party deals this season.
This means the Eels must shed players in the next nine days to be eligible to play for points by their next clash with South Sydney in round 10.
The NRL penalty will force the club to shed players in an immediate fire sale.
Parramatta are also expected to be fined $1 million and five staff members will reportedly fall on their sword, including chairman Steve Sharp.
NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg phoned the club this morning to address the players with news of the penalty.
The decision gives them a glimmer of hope of playing finals, with 15 games remaining plus two byes.
If the Eels were to win every game remaining this season they would finish on 34 points, which would likely put them six points above the cut off for making the top eight.
Greenberg and the head of the game’s integrity unit Nick Weeks will address the media on a number of alleged breaches around Parramatta’s third-party deals.

Jeez, you take a look at their roster.

A bit shocking they are over the cap.

How much are they paying these fucking players?

Re: Eels Salary Cap Breach

We should go after one of their hookers.

I would take De Gois over Waddell and he should be cheap.

They're also stripped of their Nines title. So they really have won nothing now...

Re: Eels Salary Cap Breach

Anyone we'd want on the cheap from their roster? I don't mind the Isaac De Gois idea, solid backup hooker, clearly better than Waddell. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure we have literally no money left under the cap.

Re: Eels Salary Cap Breach

So the staff have to go, any word on whether the players or managers are going to be sanctioned? Or has it been deemed that they are not responsible for their actions, even though, you know, these 3rd party deals should technically be organised by the player/manager and have absolutely no involvement with the club itself???

Re: Eels Salary Cap Breach

To be fair on the players, its not their fault. Its completely the fault of the board members who operate the club. They are the ones responsible for the club operations and should be ensuring everything is above the line at all times.
