Eight Broncos In Kangaroos Train-On Squad

Geoff Carr = amateur. Does he do this as very well paid hobby?

Just on our Kiwis, boy I hope Glenn gets the call up. He certainly deserves it this year, he's been a model of consistency.

I reckon Glenn would be the perfect steadying influence in the Kiwi back row to go with the more explosive guys they'll also have.

It'll be intriguing to see how they fit Beale and Locke into the 17. Surely they need both.

Good! Was hoping McGuire would be stuck with samoa for abit longer.

Abit confused by the whole eligibility process...

I thought eligibility for countries reset after each World cup? And if that is true why can Uate play for NSW but McGuire can't play for Australia?

Uate - Played for Fiji from 2006-2009 so past the world cup, By what i understand the rules to be he has to wait till the next world cup to change his alliance.

Not 100% sure but seems to be a 3-year "term" for eligibility. Uate played for Fiji from 2006-2008 and 2008-2010, making him eligible for NSW and Australia.
McGuire played for Samoa in 2010, tying him to them until 2012. Meaning he's not eligible to "Change allegiance" until 2013.

It's a weird setup..

Hayne - Australia 2007
Fiji 2008
Australia 2009

I'm kinda happy McGuire isn't eligible for Australia yet. I like to see players prove themselves over a long enough timeline before playing rep footy.

"Every player in the Broncos 13 will be international rep besides Wallace who is an Origin rep anyway, Surely they are over the cap as much if not worse than melbourne ever was" /End talking like every other club come next season when we Win the premiership.

I dint understand that thought process.. If they are good enough pick them.

Then you end up with players like Justin Poore and Brent Kite, who've played 1 good season, having the title 'representative footballer'. A rep jumper should be earned.

I think the thought process is to see if players can consistently be "good enough" for a couple of seasons before honouring them with rep jerseys. There's been lots of flash in the pan rookies who don't amount to anything. Not saying that about McGuire, but let's be realistic, he's really only been in this kind of form for about 8 weeks after being consistently inconsistent in the previous 2 years.

Though it's a shame he's not going to be eligible for QLD next year. I suspect we'll need him with Civoniceva all but certain to retire from rep footy, and Shillington to prove he can fight back from his disastrous year with injury. You've got Scott who's a proven performer, and Hannant who is dependable but hardly in Petero's class (Poor man's Webcke I've heard him referred to as). Matt Kennedy is one option if he comes back from injury well, and Jacob Lillyman from the Worriers.

Those players get selected on the back of the the performances if their club side more so then how they have played. Happens every year. Wolfman got an Aussie jersey after manly won the gf. It is poor selections.

That's the point. As much as I've admired what McGuire's done lately, you can't be sure he's going to repeat it next season. Rewarding him with a Kangaroo jumper now would be premature IMO.
Moot point now.

Yep, and it sucks for the clubs too, because once you've earned the Jumper your salary automatically goes up to the "representative minimum".

Brent Kite was more than a one season wonder but I get your point dukey.

If you have an awesome season you have earned a rep jumper, I don't care if they are in their first year or 27th.. Pick the team based on form.
