Eight Broncos have received the call up for the Kangaroos train-on squad after bowing out of the finals race.

Broncos skipper Darren Lockyer leads the Broncos contingent including Matt Gillett, Ben Hannant, Justin Hodges, Josh McGuire, Corey Parker, Sam Thaiday and Jharal Yow Yeh.

Matt Gillett was part of the 2010 PM's XIII while Jharal Yow Yeh made his international debut this year in May.

Broncos workhorse Corey Parker has capped off another great year with his call-up after earning his Maroons jumper back after six years while young prop Josh McGuire will be a chance after having previously played for Samoa.

Congratulations chaps!

Gillett is surprising.
Can't see them all getting a run, but congrats none the less.

McGuire should make the team at some point.

Geeze a few are ahead of their time here. Can't help but think it's a bit of a ploy to over-value some of the youngsters. The experience will do them good though.

Gillett won't make the final squad. McGuire might, given Civoniceva's unavailability and the general dearth of quality props. For that reason Hannant may make it by default despite not really deserving it.
Parker will miss out because of the wealth of back row talent, even with Ben Creagh ruling himself out (LOLZ, Creagh).

I'd say Locky, Hodges, Thaiday and Yow Yeh are certainties. Hannant likely and McGuire a smokey.

Hodges should be a late Scratching after straining the hammy taking a dump

Aye, unfortunately for Corey I can see Glenn Stewart taking his place in the Squad. based purely on Stewart's team finishing ahead of Corey's.

Lewis, Thaiday, Gallen and Watmough will be the other backrowers.

Watmough won't be going on the tour because he is having surgery to give him a neck.

Hmmm, I wonder if there was any truth to that report Sheens doesn't like Watmough?

I think he deserves a spot, merkin of a player and I laugh at his occasional blunders (Origin 3 - letting Smith burrow under him to score and his reaction) but he's been very good this year. Thought he was the best forward on the park on Friday.

Apparently they had a falling out during that series.

Add to those 8 Reed (England) and probably Beale and Glenn (NZ) plus Hoffman had he been fit and we have almost a starting side of internationals.

Take away McGuire who is not eligible for Australia afterall!

EMERGING Broncos star Josh McGuire has been embarrassed by the Australian Rugby League's mistake in naming him in the Kangaroos train-on squad despite his status as a current Samoan international.

Forward McGuire, 21, last night said in a television report that he was "excited" to be called into the train-on squad for the upcoming Four Nations series in Britain.

But The Courier-Mail can reveal McGuire will be told by red-faced ARL officials that selectors had made a disturbing blunder in naming him in the squad.

ARL chief executive Geoff Carr last night confessed to the gaffe, with McGuire unable to be considered for Australian selection because he is tied to Samoa until the 2013 season.

"The selectors were unaware of Josh's eligibility (status)," said Carr, who admitted the situation had not been helped by an illness that forced Bob Saunders, who co-ordinated the selectors' phone hook-up, home early yesterday.

Geoff Carr = amateur. Does he do this as very well paid hobby?

Just on our Kiwis, boy I hope Glenn gets the call up. He certainly deserves it this year, he's been a model of consistency.
