FOOTBALL English Premier League 23/24 Discussion

Can't believe that ended a draw. Enough chances to win the game 2 or 3 times.

Performance was much better for big chunks of the game, especially first half, but need to convert that to 3pts

I don't know why Mount wasn't brought on. He's actually looked good in the limited game time he's had.

Pay 60 million for Ugarte, don't start him and then bring him on in the 76th minute and don't also bring on Mount to give us that extra bit of creativity and fresh legs.

Have to admit, Henderson had a great game though. I always hate coming up against former players. They have a point to prove.

Draw was the result I expected tbh.

Can't be mad with a point away at Palace. 6pt fixture those ones when you come up against teams that will finish in the same part of the table, just have to win the home game

Was great to see Chiesa get some meaningful minutes at Anfield last night.

Feel like the place would have absolutely erupted if he had grabbed a goal.

Shout out to Kelleher for an excellent performance, too. Can't ask for much more from a backup keeper,

Gravenberch - unreal again. I love watching him.

We are getting relegated with this clown in charge. I'd rather have Gareth.

Crazy game. Michael Oliver should never get City games.

Trossard given a second yellow for kicking the ball away, but City players do the same thing during the game in the same half, no booking at all.

What an absolute spud Michael Oliver is. Arsenal being forced to play with 10 men for the whole second half, and I think if that doesn't happen, they win that game. Arsenal fans can feel robbed after that one.

You can live with these decisions if they're consistent with it, but that wasn't the case with this game. Hell, I've seen players kick the ball away in other games as well and no booking.

Sigh. Should have won that. Missed opportunity 😕.

Beating City with 11 men is hard enough, doing it down to 10 men for an entire half at their home ground, virtually impossible.

If I were Arsenal, I would take a lot of positives out of that game. There is absolutely no doubt Arsenal would have won that game if Trossard wasn't sent off.

City players reactions at full time show that Arsenal are in their heads and they are worried about them. The title race is well and truly on.

Very much looking forward to the next game at Emirates in Feb.

Watching the replay of the Palace vs United game.

For mine, Bruno has the Spurs and Villa game to prove he should remain in the side. We're trying to implement a possession based game where we hold the ball and look to break teams down instead of playing the Hollywood pass over the top and playing counter-attacking football, and Bruno just doesn't seem to be adjusting too well to that.

If he continues struggling, ten Hag needs to make the call to drop him for either Mount or Eriksen. Whether he has the balls to do so, who knows? He should, it's literally his job on the line.

I've actually liked the look of Eriksen this year. I think he could do well playing in the 10 role with Ugarte and Mainoo in the midfield. He still has a good football brain on him and the games he’s started in the midfield this year he’s looked good in.

We really should be in the market for a 10 in the next summer transfer window.

Bruno is so wasteful in possession. If he stopped trying a Hollywood ball every few mins and kept it simple he'd be a much more valuable player. There's no doubt about his attacking threat but his playmaking leaves a lot to be desired.

Play him as a shadow striker and tell him to worry about linking up with zirkzee and getting into attacking positions, nothing more. He'd be a lot more effective.

Bruno has always been this player though so I'm not sure why he's being scapegoated now.

His pass completion % since joining United:
19/20 - 70.5%
20/21 - 74.1%
21/22 - 74.0%
22/23 - 73.8%
23/24 - 73.0%
24/25 - 73.5%

Understand there's an argument about the 'new' style not being suited to him, but its not as if its a new manager or philosophy.

For me, Bruno has always been a luxury player who needs a system built around him but on his day he's world class.

There has to be even more questions of the manager if he's now trying to build something that doesn't involve playing to his best player's (and team captain) strengths.

Even more importantly, why is the manager suddenly changing the entire philosophy he's tried to build over the last few seasons?

Its all very weird.

Keen for this upcoming cup game v West Ham.

If for nothing else then seeing a bit more of Chiesa and hopefully someone in the 10 that isn't named Szoboslai.

Just need a holding mid like Ugarte they said...

Twente more reasons to sack ETH :rofl
