Breaking tackles with ease and offloading to support runners *sigh*

Gillett is a shadow of what he used to be.

Pretty much, we were just really good at it.

I'll pray to any god you want that we can bring in someone to coach set plays and develop ball-playing abilities in our spine.

Reed, Gillett & Thaiday all require serious surgery during the off-season.

Might explain something.

That game against the Warriors was easily our best all season. I remember most of us were blown away with how well we performed given we were missing Hoffman & Thaiday.

I'm still hopeful and semi-optimistic, but deep down I know that I'm more than likely just going to end up being frustrated at the inept attack.

I can - no Lockyer. You just have to watch how much he gets involved. You can see him thinking, always looking, sizing up the options, looking to support the ball carrier. As well, the whole team lifted, looked so alive and aware when he was out there. Even Wallace looked sharp.

How long do we wait before that sort of magic gets back in this side?

We've seen glimpses of it against the Bulldogs, Storm and the Raiders in recent weeks.

Not enough of it and certainly not for long enough.....but it's still there.

lets face it we should of won that storm game and if we had any confidence at the time we would of beaten the dogs.

hopefully just getting the win does wonders and we go to townsville with a spring in our step that hasnt been there for over two months.

How did Lockyer not win a dally m?

because he played in a team full of excellent players for a lot of the best years of his career, which makes it harder to win a Dally M as its basically an award for one man teams that can consistently win. the broncos were a one man team for a fair few years, but we had big losing streaks in nearly every one of those years meaning lockyer couldnt really get any points.

its like, when the tigers win either Farah or Marshall get 3 points basically guaranteed. same with Thurston/Bowen, Barba, etc. with lockyer, most of his career had players like Tallis, Webcke, Thorn, Carroll, Hunt, etc etc all there to take points when we would win. he was just unlucky to play most of his career with either too many great players, or not enough.

it actually makes winners like Slater and Smith more noteworthy IMO, since they have a team with 3 of the genuine superstars of the game, and only 1 of them can possibly get 3 each match.

overall though, its really a nothing award.
