POST GAME Finals Week 2 - Cowboys vs Broncos

I have to go mingle with a bunch of undeserving smug cowgirl ***** tomorrow

Well that sucked... after seeing how intense thst game was and how spent the boys were at the 80 min mark i was thinking this effort will really flatten which ever team moved onto next week.

My big rant about what stood out to me tonight.

Boyd was immense. Up there with his best games IMO. So many quality runs out of dummy half, quality grubbers, around 200m (depending on what stats site), setting up Oates. There was one stage about 3/4 through the game Hunt put up a bomb and Boyd sprinted through as the only chaser just as eager as he was in the first few minutes. His fitness and leadership is outstanding. The rest of the team need to pay more attention to his efforts. There is no one even close to him as captain next year, or even this year...

Was that Pearson out there or JYY? Big call i know, but he had a great game for a rookie. Great mixture of size, speed and skill. We are going to have some head aches picking out 2-5 next year.

Oppa getting injured was a major turning point. We always seem to lose an outside back this year and although Glenn gives it his best out there he just gets burnt with oposition centres speed and Oneil took advantage of that.

Oates was massive. He needs to stay on the wing next year, his metres are so valuable, especially with our smaller pack. Pretty surprised the fullback didnt stop him for his try. Raps to him and Boyd for pulling that off when the rest of the team were out on there feat.

Milf was rubbish in D. Lots of errors, pretty disappointing overall.

Blair was a man on a mission and made some excellent tackles. He did some really stange things toward the end of the game. When he came back on for his last stint his first tackle he was lucky not to give away a penalty then next tackle he gave one away then i think the cowboys scored. He put on 2 or 3 late hits that i thought he was toeing the line with aswell at a stage where we couldnt afford to be penalised.

Parker has been a shadow of his former self all year. At the start of the year I thought he had another 2 years in him but I think he made the right choice to call it quits. Thats nothing to be ashamed of though as he is still a quality player, we really missed his 2nd lhase play though. I was so gutted for him in the post match interview.

Glenn was great. He runs a sweet line and always puts his body on the line in both attack and D. I think he is primed for a massive hear next year with Parker opening up a starting position in the backrow.

Im absolutely filthy Pangai stayed on the bench until extra time. About 20minutes in I had a feeling Bennett would unleash him early, like he was keeping him as a secret weapon for the finals. Especially when we were watching young guns like Ponga snd Hess killing it out there, I don't think his age and inexperience should be and issue... Massive mistake from Bennett in my opinion.

Losing Wallace is a massive mistake. He is maturing into a quality prop and just about to hit his prime really early in his career. You can't keep them all though and stleast we managed to re-sign all of our young blokes I suppose.

Roberts should feel like he really let the boys down tonight. There wasn't much in what he did last week but we all know the NRL and judicary is so unpredictable and precious.

Hess was a weapon on the fringe. He played an outstanding game for a young bloke in an intense match.

Taumalolo... Wow! Best performance from a forward I think I have seen. Around the 250m mark, he really rattled us. Only negative was his drop ball at the end there.

Our pack has done us well to get to the GF last year (minus McGuire at the end too) and get us this far this year but boy was tonight evident we really missed that big bopper to bend the line and make an impact. With Parker and Wallace going we are putting alot of faith in TPJ, Arrow, Ese and Offa to really step up. I hope these rumours of us signing a forward comes true.

Sure, if you want to get rid of Hunt, get rid of Hunt.

But Foran? No.

That will just create problems. I've been around people like him full time. The off field shit will have an impact on the field. It will create a divide. It will cause problems.

His problems are just going to keep getting worse before they get any better. The shit is just going to manifest and it's going to create a toxic environment at Red Hill.

Bennett can't help everyone.. He can only help the people that want the help. Parra dodged a bullet getting rid of him, trust me.

Foran can stay the **** away from this club until he gets his shit sorted.

Off field issues can have an impact on the field if they are bad enough..

As for Boyd at 5/8. Another no.

He failed there last time. Granted, it was in a shit team, but he still sucked. Plus, he was a contributing factor to our strong defence when it was at it's best. We lose that organizer at the back and Milford is just not an organizer. Boyd is also one of the best attacking fullbacks in the game.

I would rather see Roberts at fullback than Milford. Get him involved more.

Milford is doing fine at 5/8. It's just his second season as a 5/8. People need to give him more time.

So all in all you're saying that Foran has no chance of rehabilitation and will be a detriment to whichever club he goes to?

That's pretty harsh.. I'm sure everyone deserves a second chance mate.

ouch... you got M4Ls Hunt rant down..

he did it with a Soward and Hornby combo remember. he's not exactly hapless at this stuff

but yeah, im torn in reading the future.. 'something' has to change/better times are just around the corner?

I actually love Hunt, I genuinely think he has great skills and the ability to become an amazing player, and I hope he stays at the club. But I just don't think the coaching staff are doing him or Milford any favours.

I admittedly didn't watch a lot of St George games when Bennett was coach, so I'm genuinely interested in the opinions of others who did - did Soward and Hornby improve as halves under Bennett? My recollection is that Soward was a pretty handy organising half who had a really good kicking game before Bennett arrived, and remained so afterwards, and that suited the grinding style Bennett brought to the club. But as I said, I didn't watch them a lot so I could be way off.

One person change the game Jason taumalolo. I wish Broncos have player like that in there side. It will be interesting who gone be assistant coach next year.

We do. His name is Tevita. But Bennett won't fucking play him!

What a brilliant post.

Shift Milford to half, Boyd to 5/8 and **** Ben Hunt off.

You're kidding? Hunt was doing everything and Milford has done sweet **** all, all year and gets away with it by the fans and the media.

I reckon we should go after Tod Carney.
MILF needs a 1/2's partner who can manage the game and let MILF learn his role. His still a kid and needs to have a senior partner. Hunt is an average half with an ordinary kicking game and it has improved bugger all since he has had the role. Hunt can't teach MILF anything.
Get a good half & Hunt would make a tremendous utility player off the bench.
Despite the shit ref calls we had our chance and it was lost when MILF lost the ball on zero tackle.
Balir & Boyd were the 2 stand outs, McColloughs defence was typically awesome. Parker has been a wonderful servant & retired just in time.
Despite the disappointment I couldn't be happier with the effort, they tried their best and left nothing out there.
Get Carney and win the comp next year. Simple as that.

Put Taumalolo in our team and we win by 30. Simple as that.

From what we saw tonight you think Hunt and Milford can capitalise on the advantages a player like taulmalolo can bring? Our forwards were fine, they defended well and crated opportunities for us but werent able to capitalise and that sits at the feet of Hunt and Milford.

Don't ask me for the answer but I'm sure the answer isn't resigning Hunt. Tonight's display showed he's not up to it. Same with Milford.

Anthony "Plays his best in big games" Milford. Jesus Christ he was fucking SHIT. Abysmal defence down that left edge (all the others on that side too), went missing most of the time...which was still preferable to when he didn't go "missing", as he just dropped the ball each time. Disgusting.

Gillett, what the **** was that?

Finally, Bennett, I have no idea what goes through his head sometimes. Why didn't he bring Pangai in? Great move, genius coach.

On the positive side, Boyd was immense. Almost single handedly kept us in the game. Without him, and we lose by 20.

We have been well off the quality we showed last year. Even if we won, we wouldn't have gone all the way. Still frustrating losing to these fuckers again. What happened to our defence since last year?
