First Test- Australia v South Africa

I'd be going:

1. Warner
2. SMarsh
3. Khawaja
4. Head
5. Smith
6. Patterson
7. Handscomb
8. Starc
9. Hazlewood
10. Siddle/Sayers
11. Lyon

12. Lehmann

Track the development of Cartwright, Swepson, Renshaw as well

Marcus Harris is one to track. Started the shield with a bang and hopefully he keeps it up. Tubby takes him pretty highly I've heard.

Lehmann another ton, he's been pretty consistent for a while now, I wouldn't mind seeing him get into some squads.

The first innings ended pretty much even- so a chance to put the collapse behind them and bowl well- they haven't. The focus shouldn't just be the collapse.

Our bowlers have let two guys averaging mid 30- score 100's.

I think we patted ourselves on the back too much post day 1. I posted the scores from 2008 and 2012 and said they batted exactly the same then and won.

Sayers I like- Hobart and Adelaide under lights would be made for him.

We are going to have to do a South Africa 2008 in Perth.

They chased 414- Ab- 106 and Smith 108. Only lost four wickets getting it.

Great run chase.

Those are great players, we have a bunch of prima donnas not willing to put in.

If we lose this test it will be our 4th straight consecutive loss in test matches and our 6th straight loss in international matches. Surely the selection panel needs a good looking at.

This is our best 11- by far.

Who would you have picked to change the result if they lose?

It's been a good even Test match so far- last question mark is us batting today and tomorrow- it's hot here again and they're down a bowler.

It's good to see we appear to have some bats coming through finally. Patterson, Lehmann, Renshaw, Head, Cartwright all look good prospects. Patterson and Lehmann, Head in particular should be starting to get in a few squads. I'd be very tempted to pick one of them next test in place of Voges or MMarsh. I really want to see MMarsh do well but unless he makes a statement in the second innings, he has just had far too many chances. At least Head can bowl as well.

Av of 33 can't get you a Test spot- it just can't.

The bigger questions need to be.

Did our bowlers bowl enough in the lead up to the Test? Because it's become clear that South Africa have kept us in the field with old fashioned Test batting and played it beautifully. We looked cooked yesterday.

Why aren't we producing batsmen that are capable of what Duminy and Elgar did yesterday?

Should we be picking the team for two Tests at a time- this is it now barring injury for Hobart as well but the series might be gone by then.

Sayers now 15 wickets for two games for South Australia. Gee if they are not going to change anything for Hobart where he got 6/108 last year then he would be a great point of difference at home for the day night Test- he would be a nightmare under lights.

I'd be giving one of the young Queenslanders a go honestly, Heazlett & Renshaw both average over 40 in FC and are both in good recent form.

1910 is Renshaw still recovering from his injury? He close to returning?
