First Test- Australia v South Africa

Renshaw if fit would be an understandable pick if we needed an opener but we don't. Heazlett may go on to become something but I'd have him behind Lehmann, Patterson comfortably, also I'd have him behind Cartwright and Head as well.

I'd be giving one of the young Queenslanders a go honestly, Heazlett & Renshaw both average over 40 in FC and are both in good recent form.

@1910 is Renshaw still recovering from his injury? He close to returning?

Injured due back in two weeks.

Heazlett just got duck this morning when his team needed him to bat- he's averaging 25 this year and no 100's from two innings. Are you confident that is the form you need to see off South Africa?

Labuschange is in much better form than Heazlett.

You know things are going bad with the national side when you speculate about Heazlett and Renshaw getting picked. These two wouldn't be even on the selector's radars. One day they will be possibly but are nowhere near ready for Intl duties this early in their careers.

Lyon is disgustingly overrated. He only shows up in conditions where our seamers are taking wickets, and has shown nothing in the sub continent.

His figures would disagree with you. Best spinner in the country by the length of the straight.

Well that's objectively not true if you go by first class records, which is the only way to judge non-test players. I do agree that he isn't going to get dropped, and we'll subsequently lose every single test in India.

In India 3 Tests- 15 wickets
In Sri Lanka 6 Tests- 24 wickets
In UAE- 2 Tests- 3 wickets

11 Tests- 42 wickets- 1788 runs @ 42.

42 runs a wicket is high but you're playing against the best players of spin in the world and often we don't give him much to work with. Our batting is terrible over there.

Sri Lanka he was our second highest wicket taker behind Starc (24) with 16 and third best for the series. Our next best was Halewood on seven! We lost 3-0!

He's an off spinner in Perth bowling against a side with a 500 run lead! what do you expect him to do?

You fail to ever say who would have spun their way to a victory this Test?

Meanwhile Sayers takes 11 wickets for about 70, while next in line Mennie takes 3 for about 100. Can someone tell me what Sayers has done wrong? Second game in a row he has comfortably outperformed both Bird and especially Mennie.

539 to win.

It it would be a record run chase. Previous best West Indies 418 in 2003.

Labuschange is in much better form than Heazlett.

He made a 50 in the first innings when the next highest score on the team was 20, and I have no idea what you're referring to when you say he averages 25 this year considering this was the first FC game he's played this season, how you can justify using his average from 2 innings as a reason not to consider him, when one of the innings he made a half century.

Labuschange barely averages 30 in FC, and also made a duck first innings, so that's also a terrible alternative if you're shooting down the Heazlett suggestion.

Check out what George Bailey did in a badly beaten Tassie side. Forget about these Qlders as none of them are of International Test calibre.

Bailey is old and has had a chance already, Heazlett & Renshaw are 20-21, have we not learned our lesson with picking old batsmen who will be retired within a year or two? Voges comes to mind, he's cooked.

This Australian team is a joke.

They are the equivalent of England in the '90s. Plenty of talented players like Caddick,Malcolm,Tufnell etc but they simply can't string together five good days in a row.

Bowling well is easy when everything is going your way. In a session when they're under the pump they go back to bowling lollipops. Yesterday was an absolute joke.
