I don't think Allen is more talented than Holmes, and even though he's enjoyed a better season in a better side, Holmes has the experience. Holmes had to be in the side somewhere, preferably it would have been on the left wing where he has enjoyed an unreal strike rate. We'll see how he goes tonight, if he plays poorly they might move him to the wing for game 3.

Let's hope he does a Gagai - and his origin form picks up 20% on club form.

Bennett picking Holmes is a huge risk IMO. Surely Allen would have been a better pick?

Holmes was very, very ordinary for the Cowboys at fullback - and hasn't played a game for months.

Allen was exceptional for the Rabbitohs at the back end of the season at fullback - replacing Mitchell - and has played recently in finals football.

Holmes is proven at Origin level. He's shown he can perform in this arena. In a side as inexperienced as ours, bringing more experience in is valuable. Holmes was the obvious choice.

Plus, as stated, he can kick.

This is great news. Gould is often insightful except when he is commentating on NSW or one of his favourite teams, then he is painful. This might make it easier for people to listen to channel 9, though with Johns still there, I doubt it.

I realise that Allen is the flavour of the month around these parts ... But Holmes is the better player.

Now, if Brimson wasn't injured and he picked Holmes ahead of him at fullback you might have a point
