Golf - Who Plays?

Finally got out for a game today! First time in three months.

It was extremely muddy so we had to walk it, my shoes are completely drenched. I played terribly.

I don't care though, it was good to get out on the course again.

I have been playing golf nearly every weekend of late.. I have a pretty good short game but off the Tee's I just can't get it right.. I played at some garbage course at Tallai down the coast yesterday. It was a course with basically zero fairways and if you missed the green you were lucky to find your ball.

I once played with Daras hubby steve and i have never ever played better ..i think i got a birdie ........and like about 4 pars ......
I do find i play heaps better when full of beer !!!
go ebay ..they have great deals ..........

anyway, seeing as I'm now retired from football/soccer due to having the knee of an 80yo, I'm looking to get into golf but I haven't really played in a long time and tbh I was more of a complete slasher than knowing what I was doing.

so, does anyone have any personal recommendations for lessons in brisbane? preferably northside. would basically be beginners. don't have my own clubs either, figure i'd get ones sized up once I have a faint idea of what I'm doing

I'd recommend starting at a golf simulator. I found it a really good place to start.

Actually I’ll say one thing, if you’re able to walk the course do that instead of getting a cart. You get to walk off all your bad shots and at the end of the round if you played rubbish at least you got exercise in….that’s what I tell myself after every single game I play 😂

I went into Drummond Virginia to buy a new fairway wood, and the pro Anthony Rowlings went through everything and even gave me some nice tips which helped me out. Definitely worth a lesson with him if you're looking to get help with some basics.

Golf Central @ DFO has some good coaches.

The facilities there are pretty good also.

Mostly been hitting the range at dfo but did have my first round @ st lucia on the weekend. Hit 116 (par 70) lol. Still, not too unhappy about that for my first legit round. First goal will be breaking 100.

Getting to royal Qld this week at all?

Mate of mine just got back from there, huge Adam Scott fan. I don't find golf overly interesting to watch, but I'll probably start trying to pay attention to what they do just so I can glean something here or there.

The aforementioned friend, I've a 2 year bet with him that i'll beat him before the end of 2024. He's played all his life, so it'll be a good challenge.

How are you going with the knee and golf?

From memory I think I stopped playing because it was aggravating an occasional bout of arthritis I have in one of my knees.

That is actually impressive for your first round. I play with blokes who shoot 130 that go to the range 2-3 times a week and have played many rounds of golf. While St Lucia is a relatively easy track, that's not bad.
