Grand Final Discussion

I disagree with some saying that this Grand Final will be a walkover for Souths

- The Bulldogs have got far more experience in games like these and were in the Grand Final just 2 years ago. In total Bulldogs players have played in 10 Grand Finals in comparison Souths have only played 5 and that is in courtesy of Inglis and Tuquri. Having big game players is crucial in games like these. It will be very interesting to see how the young blokes at Souths handle the pressure of a Grand Final

- The Bulldogs have a forward pack that is capable of stopping the Souths go forward through the middle which I see as one of their main strengths. When the Cowboys halted their progress in round 24 they didn't play anywhere near their potential.

- The Bulldogs have the best clutch player in the game in Trent Hodkinson

- Souths have always relied on the Luke partnership with the halves and having him out is going to affect them. Ennis out is going to hurt the Dogs as well so it's levelled up there

- Des is a great coach that knows how to win premierships whilst it's McGuire's first Grand Final but he is a great coach as well but he hasn't coached in a game like this.

- The Bulldogs are experts at winning grand finals amid adversity remember 1995 and 2004

Souths will take some beating but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Canterbury won their 9th Premiership tomorrow.

Good post. I'm tipping the Bulldogs today for most of the reasons you pointed out. The other things I would add is that the Bulldogs have gotten off to a great start in all three finals matches so far. If they can get to a quick lead tonight then the 43 year old demons might creep back in for Souths.

Refereeing will also be crucial. Souths have a big pack that don't like being turned around. Silly penalties and breaks in play will be a godsend to them. Bulldogs, Reynolds in particular, need to be highly disciplined for the entire game.

I didn't think Pride would be leading 8-6.

Panthers have 14 times more NRL experience in their side.

It's only early, but I wasn't expecting Pride to even be in it in any stage of the game.

That experience is starting to pay. Strong start from the Pride. Hope they can make a game of it.

Pride should hit the front here.

Hope they win, would be another great story on GF day.

Guess he didn't land the kick. Important to show the Rabbitohs shuffling down the hallway.

Penrith's youth is being exposed on the grand stage.

Hold a narrow two point lead but have been guilty of coming up with errors inside their own half.

Anybody's ball game with 14 to go.

Penrith 12 errors to the Pride's 5 tells the story as they bomb a try down the corner.

Now Nona puts up a towering bomb and Wes drops it.

Great work around the ruck from Roos catches the Panthers short on the inside and they hit the front through McCarthy.

32-28 Pride with 10 to go.

Pride cough up the ball outside their 30 with less than 3 minutes to go.

Penrith with one last chance to snatch the lead.
