Highlights of Season 2011

 It'd be HUGE.

But this year is just missing some of those special games you could point to in years gone by. Most of the entertaining matches have just been upsets, or where a team has run out with the game comfortably.

Haha, I agree with you. There hasn't been to many particularly memorable games this year.

This is said during every season and is a massive myth IMO.

The funny thing is, I've appreciated this season more than 2010, probably because the Storm have been allowed back in and now we've got three of the games best involved in the pointy end of the season which is great. Manly and North Queensland have been real fun to watch and even the Dragons have been involved in some entertaining games. And of course I love Brisbane so the results this year have been delightful, albeit they're playing a lot of patchy no-thrills footy.

The issue is, the scheduling has been pretty terrible. Take Brisbane for instance and we've had three marquee games influenced by representative football. While two of them were still fairly entertaining (vs. Storm and Dragons) they weren't as special as what they could have been.

And I don't think it's a myth either. Take 2005 for instance and people were prepared to rap games like the Roosters/Dragons game as soon as it finished. As I said, scheduling hasn't helped and hopefully the next few rounds (especially Storm/Dragons, Storm/Sea Eagles, Broncos/Cowboys and Broncos/Sea Eagles) are classics.

Apart from the Broncos Victories, my favourite was Cowboys v Eels in Townsville. The Cowboys were down by 16 points a couple of times in the match and still came back and won.
It was a wonderful performance.

And to see Jarryd Hayne nearly cry. and hear the choking in Laurie Daley's voice as JT towelled up Hayne was epic. It was also funny when a slightly hysterical Daley wished JT to be injured before Origin 2. Ha ha ha. Sucked in.

That was a cracker!

Last night's game in Canberra is one of the highlights of the season. Well, the second half anyway.

Every game the Storm lose is a highlight in my book (so not too much this year unfortunately). Titans as well, so that's evened it out a bit.

I also love the juniors coming through this year.

Daly Cherry-Evans, Will Hopoate, Gareth Widdop, Jack Reed, Kalifa Fai Fai-Loa, Tariq Sims, Matt Srama, Dave Hala, Kurt Baptiste, Josh Papalii etc. awesome class and they've been exciting to watch.

Finals are shaping up nicely.

QFT. Every year there's whinging about experienced players moving on. And every year more exciting young players come through that make a mockery of that scaremongering.

That's pretty much exactly what I was going to say - I pissed my pants at the end when Soward had to stop strutting when Dugan went over!

Agree, except the placement of Baptiste in that list he looks out of place big time among those names.

It'll be interesting to see how some of these younger QLDer hookers develop in the next few years.
McCullough - huge potential, just needs to work hard and not let it get to his head.
Baptiste - Dunno much about him other than the 2 or 3 games he's played for us, but from all reports he seems like a real talent too.
Jake Friend - A real talent, just needs to stay out of jail
Srama - Has only played like 10 games, but has been the standout player at the Titans. Looks like he'll have a huge future too.

Throw James Segeyaro in there too, if he chooses Australia over PNG.

I think Srama is looking like the best of the bunch at this early stage.

Segeyaro will end up being better than all of them imo.

If he chooses QLD, when Smith retires Jake Friend will be 9, Segeyaro 14.

Provided Jake Friend isn't in Jail of course. :shake:

Why would anyone want to play for PNG?

To get one rep game every few years?
