Hodges Facing Suspension

the penalty count last night was 11-5 in favour of canberra.....

Joey only got 2 weeks for calling a touch judge a c##t, so how Hodges deserves 2 for what he did is a little perplexing to me. Dumb but all he should get is a small fine and a talking to.

Pretty soon it will be like Aussie Rules, where nobody is allowed to interact with the ref.

Flame me down all you want, but i honestly i think it is nearly at the stage where Hodgo gets internal discipline from the Broncos for his on field crimes, ala barry hall and the swans. I can cop a dangerous throw and high tackle suspension, they just come with playing the game. If he's outed again than his last 2 suspensions have been for stupid brain snaps, not accidental in the heat of the moment slip ups. He's paid big bucks by our club and a lot is expected of him, not just with his talent but also his standing within the team and the game as a senior player and a leader.

Remember leadership is not something that has been thrust upon him, he has gone looking for it himself.

At the moment he's just not cutting it.

It should be liek that. The only person talking to a ref should be the skipper.

From what I saw on the news, during the action of the gesture, Hodges isn't even looking at Archer. I wouldn't be surprised if his defence is that he was doing it to a Canberra player, after Canberra player has sledged him. It definetly looks like that on the slow mo footage on the news.

Everyone is slaying Hodges right now, for what? Yes, THAT tackle was bad. He did 6 weeks for it. This "gesture" hasn't been trialed yet, so let's reserve judgement.

IMO, a certain hooker has far more on-field dramas than Hodges, and no one is jumping up and down about his behaviour.

He'll fight it, i think he gets 2 weeks even if he looses...

A certain hooker is just niggly, he knows where the line is and not to cross it. Not to mention he's not one of our leaders, nor has he sought to be. Can't say the same for Hodges...

First thing I was taught when playing sport is play the whistle, dont back chat and get on with the game because the ref isn't going to change a thing..

Hodges should give his old folkes a call and let them explain it to him again..

I did see him do something. I thought it was at the touchie.
A few of his tackles looked like they might have turned out
dangerous.
I like Hodgo don't know if why I don't mind him playing with
a little bit of pest in him ;)

I just watched again what they are basing the charge on....what an absolute joke. Pretty soon you will be getting banned for so much as looking at the ref.

Are you serious?? WHat Hodges did was just plain wrong. Extremely disrespectful and he deserves to do time

Agree with Matt, not setting a good example, had to explain it to my boys that it isn't on. I refereed a under 8 game on friday night and had to talk to the coach re the backchat at halftime as it was relentless, the 2nd half there was none. Just shows that kids follow what they see their heroes do.

It wasnt shown on channel 9 but it looks like Hodgo will find himself in hot water again. Any sort of gesture or abuse towards a referee is not on.

I hope he only misses 1 instead of 2 weeks but because we need him bad!

Yep, Dragons will be a challenge.

.

It happened in front of me, and it was definalety directed at Archer.

Hodges & Kemp were involved in the tackle, Canberra play gets up and loses the ball. Archer gives a penalty to the Raiders, and Hodges blows up deluxe and argues with Archer. Archer explains the ruling, and Hodges keeps arguing. Archer then tells him to go away, and turns his back. Hodges takes a step forward and gives him the "salute"

Poor form [icon_thumbs_do

If Hodges gets suspended I just hope it won't mean that Stagg goes in the centres. Hopefully it'll be Moon and Boyd.

He really does need to cut the crap out of his game though ... he's such a better player when he focuses soley on the footy

I bet Stagg will go in the centres and Taylor on the Bench if he is suspended.
I would rather Moon or even one of the U20's guys but it won't happen this year.

Broncs are going to fight this one. Hopefully to win if justice is served.
As said in another thread. No respect is shown for the ref and it has been let go too long. Too much friendly play. Now suddenly we are taking the 'Blocker' stance of standing a player down for two weeks for something that happens and many times much worse regarding the ref.
How many players pat the ref on the bum? Think I have seen Hodges do that one before as well along with many other players. All be it in good spirit although IMO it should never be on.

Just to put it in perspective, if he does get charged with a 2 match ban that's 8 weeks he would have missed this year through sheer stupidity. Anyone suggesting his attitude hasnt taken a turn for the worst are kidding themselves. There's a difference between controlled aggression and Hodges. Ennis is the perfect example of how to be smug, without being stupid.

It's no coincidence either his form has declined as his attitude problems have increased. I don't know why people have been praising him, he really hasn't been anything special this year. His 06 form was his best since he's been here.
