Hunt has put the cue in the rack

I'm not sure if it was last week or this week, but Benji kicked a line drop out over 50m on the fly and I realised that not since Locky have we had a half that can kick an effing line drop out. Hunt can't even do something that simple, I'm his biggest fan but enough is enough. I can't deal anymore.

I 100% blame origin, but Ben hunt should have stood up for his origin tired team mates

Play like we did in the last 10. We need to play wider and with more ball movement. Late offloads etc.

Sounds good to me. We need more minute out of guys like Ese'ese and TPJ and really encourage them to offload. Also though Su'A was great when he came on. We should be playing expansive footy with the team we have for sure.

Do you know if that is what we are aiming for?

So apparently Klemmer wants a release from the Bulldogs..

I hate the bloke, but he'd make our forward pack elite. We just need someone who can bend the line and get a quick play the ball or offload, feels like we haven't had someone capable of doing that in years.

Maybe Lodge will be our Klemmer.

I agree that it's hard to blame our halves when we're constantly getting destroyed in the middle.

Why would Klemmer want out when the Bulldogs have just signed his BFF for next year?

He probably wants to win a premiership. Coming 8th and being knocked out in week 1 because coach won't change his mediocre gameplan is only fun for so long.

CaptainHook CaptainHook - Sure, but when he's on song he's one of the most potent halves in the game.

I thought the OP was ridiculous, to accuse Hunt of phoning in his performances smells of sour grapes and really doesn't add anything when discussing Hunt's positives and negatives as a player.

Even at his absolute best he still doesn't have the same tools as Niko. He's erratic and unsure in attack which rubs off on the rest of the team, picks the wrong options constantly (which is masked by his running game when he's in form), has a kicking game in the running for worst in the comp, is a proven choke artist up there with the likes of Hillary Clinton or the SA cricket team, etc. Talking about SA and cricket, Hunt's actually a bit like Herschelle Gibbs: looks good when he's on, but hopeless under pressure, and has an average record.

If we lose another quality half, or at least piss them off enough to look at options in a year's time when their contract is done, for Hunt, who isn't even staying at the club, I'll be livid. We've lost Norman and Taylor for this bloke, and it's proven to be a monumental mistake.

His true BFF went to the Tigpies. Reynolds will be another groomsmen at his wedding and is a godparent to his child(ren).

meh Idgaf this is an obvious troll thread anyway so am not going to get into a major argument over it but any other player coming off a 5-6 week injury would be afforded some leeway, it's just Hunt is an easy target so fire away. I'm sure whatever happens Bennett will persist and St George would not fork out 1.2 mil for a complete dud so meh.

Check Gareth Widdop`s stats from yesterday ...

I know Widdop scored twelve of the Dragons 16 points, but look at the quality of opposition. The first try was awful defence from Littlejohn & Chee-Kam down the weakest edges in the game and one was directly off of a Tigers mistake.

It's a bit different from the circumstances and the opposition Hunt has had to deal with.

Didn't you know dropping Hunt will solve all our problems

He tries but just ineffectively for the most part. Agree hard if forward pack is getting overpowered but doesn't help the forwards when rest of the attack is predictable so they can bunch up in defence and our forwards are struggling out of our own territory because our kicking game sucks. McCullough has a good boot he can do a Cam Smith on tackle 5 as required and have Alf and Lockyer teach Milf, Niko, Bird and Boyd how kick all offseason.

As for the comment re dragons wouldn't pay for a dud, they were so desperate for a 'premiership' half to build their team around at the time if they would have a paid a million for Andrew Johns left testicle. Hunt might be do well in a new environment to help lift the demons and don't wish him ill will but it was a very high risk purchase which may end up costing a few people their jobs if it fails. Dragons deserve what they get good and bad.

I have no doubts Hunt will always give his best on the field, mental demons or not. Implying otherwise is terribly unfair for the bloke!

Dismissing his performances and inability to control a game, blaming it all on the forward pack, is also burying the head in the sand.
You want your chief playmaker to be able to do more than dominate occasionally, and only take advantage when his team is on the front foot.
You want your chief playmaker to be able to make good decisions and be a decisive factor into turning the tide, swinging momentum, making good decisions, executing well, when the team is on the back foot.
Hunt just can't, and a big part of that is his wildly inaccurate kicking and volatile decision making.

Dropping Hunt won't solve all our problems, but it sure as hell will remove a few.

Which nobody is doing.

And create a few as well.

...and consistently goes MIA.

Could've fooled me.

If you read what I wrote, you'll actually see that I'm agreeing with you. Hunt can't produce unless the Broncos are on the front-foot which is pretty typical of a half, but it's what separates him from the best halves in the competition.

However, the Broncos don't have of a halfback of that calibre on their roster, so if Hunt can regain his best form, he's still the most dangerous half on the roster.

It's a big if, but he deserves the rest of the Origin period to prove himself.
